Benefits Of Exercise On Your Skin
By
Alison ClarkeMany health specialists and physicians have advocated exercise as a means for achieving healthy and glowing skin and so far, this belief have never been refuted, only reinforced.
Our skin is our largest organ, our first line of defense against all the dirt and pollution brought on by our surrounding environment. Because of this, it is always worth our while to take care and maintain the health of this particular organ.
As we go about our daily activities, our skin is exposed to a lot of dirt and pollution. Exercise increases the circulation of our blood, making the delivery of nutrients to our skin easier and faster. This translates to an efficient way of removing and flushing out whatever toxins and other harmful substances within our skin cells. In this way, exercise prevents the build-up of these potentially damaging substances which could adversely affect our overall health. Increased circulation also means more efficient delivery of oxygen not just to the skin but to the rest of the body, also resulting in improved physical well-being.
Performing exercise routines also provide the means for the skin to produce collagen, the substance most associated with delaying the aging process, particularly in skin. This is because collagen supports the fibers in our body, making them firm. For those wishing to avoid the telltale manifestations of advancing age, exercise provides the best option for achieving this goal.
Investing large amounts of money in anti-aging products will yield minimal results, if any, if the person concerned does not exercise regularly. The appearance of wrinkles and other lines in the face will be delayed when we exercise. Other parts of our body will also remain firm and strong, avoiding the sagging and flabbiness much associated with getting old.
People who have gone through tension-filled moments in their lives know that exercise helps in reducing stress. Apart from keeping our attention off the things that bother us the most, exercise also mediates the secretion of male hormones, substances that are implicated in acne breakouts. Because of this, people with skin prone to break out in pimples benefits much from regular exercise. Additionally, sweat brought on by exercise unclogs the pores of the skin, lessening the possibility of forming pimples. Those who wish to maintain clear complexions should incorporate exercise regimen in their weekly schedules. And even if an occasional zit or two makes an appearance in your face, it won't be as severe and last as long as those who do not find the time or the effort to exercise regularly.
Since exercise reduces our levels of stress, it makes us more capable of handling strong emotions, such as anger or frustration. Everyone knows these emotions contribute to the formation of lines in our faces. Therefore, exercise indirectly aids in uplifting our mental state, manifested in line-free faces.
Exercise also helps in hydrating our body, since we normally increase our intake of fluids following an exercise routine. Drinking lots of water helps prevent the skin from drying out, particularly during cold winter months.
One great exercise technique to improve overall health is that of
yoga. Visit this exciting new Blog on the benefits of yoga to

Don't Forget Your Beauty Sleep
By
Donald StevensWhen looking at the number of night creams flooding the skin care industry, it appears there is a need to prep your skin before going to sleep for the night. Though no research has been done comparing daytime and nighttime facial skin care products, there may be some benefits to caring for your skin before going to bed at night. Since skin cells regenerate faster at night than during the day, your sleep hours are a good time for your body to rejuvenate your skin.
Many popular anti-aging ingredients are active longer when they are not exposed to sunlight.
Antioxidants do not hold up well in sunlight, or from the effects of everyday air pollution. Retinoids, which help to quicken cell replacement, quickly become ineffective and break down with exposure to sunlight. Vitamins C and E when applied topically, do not hold up well in sunlight. These ingredients will perform at a higher level when applied before going to bed.
Another benefit of nighttime skin care, is your skin maintains proper hydration more easily than during the daytime hours. Since nighttime creams don't have to compete with make up, pollution, or even sunlight, they are better at attracting and keeping moisture in the skin. They also prevent moisture from evaporating from your skin overnight. What is encouraging, is that the skin may be more receptive to these active ingredients when you are asleep. This is good news, as researchers believe the skin works harder to rejuvenate itself during your resting hours.
To obtain the maximum benefit from your beauty sleep, there are three things you should consider for your nighttime skin care regimen. Some of these are things you have read and heard before, but they are still very relevant to your skin care desires. Always remember, sometimes the best things are the simplest and easiest things.
First, keep your skin well hydrated. Drinking eight glasses of water a day, while adding omega-3 fatty acids to your diet, keeps you hydrated fro the inside out. Also, consider adding a humidifier in your bedroom. A humidifier will help you avoid overnight moisture loss from your skin while you are sleeping.
Second, use a moisturizer after washing your skin. A moisturizer like Clinique's Moisture Surge Extra will help seal in the moisture your skin has absorbed after bathing. Keeping moisture trapped helps plump up fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps to give your face a soft and smooth appearance.
Finally, try sleeping flat on your back. Sleeping with your face pressed in a pillow will cause fold lines in your face that could become permanent with repetition. Sleeping on your back will also fight the effects gravity has on your skin throughout the course of a day. Research has shown that skin wrinkles more in the afternoon than in the morning. Sleeping on your back is a chance to reverse that.
Getting your rest is definitely important for your skin. Nighttime skin care is just as important as what you do in the morning. It allows your favorite skin care products to perform without interference from the sun or the environment. This is another effective tool in your quest for beautiful skin. So at the end of a long day, reward yourself with a little beauty sleep.

Coffee Facial Mask for Clear Skin
By
Chantal TerryI've recently gotten into the caffeine craze. Remember, caffeine has been indicted to the skincare hall of fame. Naturally, I just had to play around with it. And so, I've come up with this wonderfully scrumptious facial mask. It works wonders on my skin. I can really see the difference after the mask. My skin actually glows and it was baby smooth to the touch.
Absolutely delightful!! Plus the aromatic coffee scent lingers long after the mask is removed.
Another plus point, you're actually using used finely ground coffee, simply collect the used coffee after your morning coffee.
Ingredients
3 tablespoons of used finely ground coffeeA small glass of milk
Directions
1) Add the used finely ground coffee into a bowl. Stir in milk until it achieves a think texture. Mix the ingredients till well blended. Try not to make the paste too diluted or it'll be runny and it's gonna be messy during application. If mixture becomes too runny, simply add a little more coffee into it.
2) When ready, apply the paste onto your face and neck and smooth it out all over your face. Avoid eyes and lips.
3) Slowly massage the mixture to your skin and relax for 20 mins.
4) While washing off the mask, slowly massage the paste to your skin. It acts further as an exfoliator. Don't massage too hard if you have sensitive skin
5) Pat dry face and apply moisturizer while skin is still damp to seal in moisture
Try it, you won't regret it. Remember not to scrub your skin too hard with the coffee grounds though.

Facial Hygiene
By
Julie Jazzerine EquiaPuberty causes all kinds of changes in your body. Your skin and scalp may suddenly get oily very easily. Every day it seems you have new hair growing in different places. At times, you seem to sweat for no reason - and you may notice there are odors where you never had them before. What should you do about it?
These bodily changes are a normal part of becoming an adult. Still, some of them can be a real source of anxiety. Who wants to worry about whether their underarms smell, anyway?
Read below for information on some hygiene basics - and learn how to deal with greasy hair, perspiration, and body hair.
Oily HairThe hormones that create acne are the same ones that can make you feel like you're suddenly styling your hair with a comb dipped in motor oil. Each strand of hair has its own sebaceous (oil) gland, which keeps the hair shiny and waterproof. But during puberty, when the sebaceous glands produce extra oil, it can make your hair look too shiny, oily, and greasy.
Washing your hair every day or every other day can help control oily hair. Dozens of shampoos are available in drugstores and supermarkets for you to choose from - most brands are pretty similar, although you might want to try one that is specially formulated for oily hair. Use warm water and a small amount of shampoo to work up a lather. Don't scrub or rub too hard - this doesn't get rid of oil any better and can irritate your scalp or damage your hair. After you've rinsed, you can follow up with a conditioner if you like; again, one for oily hair might work best.
When you're styling your hair, pay close attention to the products you use. Some styling gels or lotions can add extra grease to your hair, which defeats the purpose of washing it in the first place! Look for formulas that say "greaseless" or "oil free."
Sweat and Body Odor
Perspiration, or sweat, comes from sweat glands that you've always had in your body. But thanks to puberty, these glands not only become more active than before, they also begin to secrete different chemicals into the sweat that has a stronger smelling odor. You might notice this odor under your arms in your armpits. Your feet and genitals might also have new smells.
The best way to keep clean is to bathe or shower every day using a mild soap and warm water. This will help wash away any bacteria that contribute to the smells. Wearing clean clothes, socks, and underwear each day can also help you to feel clean. If you sweat a lot, you might find that shirts, T-shirts, socks, and underwear made from cotton or other natural materials will help absorb sweat more effectively.
If you're concerned about the way your underarms smell, you can try using a deodorant or deodorant with antiperspirant. Deodorants get rid of the odor of sweat by covering it up, and antiperspirants actually stop or dry up perspiration. They come in sticks, roll-ons, gels, sprays, and creams and are available at any drugstore or supermarket. All brands are similar (and ones that say they're made for a man or for a woman are similar, too, except for some perfumes that are added).
If you choose to use deodorant or antiperspirant, be sure to read the directions. Some work better if you use them at night, whereas others recommend that you put them on in the morning. But keep in mind that some teens don't need deodorants or antiperspirants. So why use them if you don't have to? Deodorant and antiperspirant commercials may try to convince you that you'll have no friends or dates if you don't use their product, but if you don't think you smell and you take daily baths or showers and wear clean clothes, you may be fine without them.
Body Hair
Body hair in new places is something you can count on - again, it's hormones in action. You may want to start shaving some places where body hair grows, but whether you do is up to you.
Some guys who grow facial hair like to let it develop into a mustache and beard. Some girls may decide to leave the hair on their legs and under their arms as is. It's all up to you and what you feel comfortable with.
If you do decide to shave, whether you're a guy or girl, you have a few different choices. You can use a traditional razor with a shaving cream or gel or you can use an electric razor. If you use a regular razor, make sure the blade is new and sharp to prevent cuts and nicks. Shaving cream and gel are often a better bet than soap because they make it easier to pull the razor against your skin. Some of the newer razors contain shaving gel right in the blade area, making even beginners feel comfortable shaving.
Whether you're shaving your legs, armpits, or face, go slowly. These are tricky areas of your body with lots of curves and angles, and it's easy to cut yourself if you move too fast. An adult or older sibling can be a big help when you're learning to shave. Don't be afraid to ask for tips.
You might want to avoid shaving your pubic hair because when it grows back in, the skin may be irritated and itchy. Also, guys may think twice about shaving their chests, and girls should avoid shaving their faces because the stubble that grows back will look prickly and thicker, forcing you to shave over and over.
If you're a girl and you're worried about hairs on your upper lip, step back from the mirror and you may see that the hair everyone really sees is probably not as bad as you think.
If you do decide you want to get rid of unwanted facial hair, research the options and ask an adult or older sibling for advice. Many products are made for facial hair - everything from bleach that lessens its appearance to hair removers that are specially made for hair on the face. And some new oil-free facial moisturizers on the market contain substances to make facial hair softer and less visible. You may want to try one before you opt for bleaching or hair removal.
In the rare case where a girl's facial hair growth is enough to cause anxiety, a dermatologist or skin specialist can use permanent removal techniques such as electrolysis. In some cases, excess hair growth in girls can be a sign of a medical condition, like polycystic ovary syndrome. If you're a girl who is worried about hair growth, talk to your doctor.

Natural Skin Care Secret - The Magic of Jojoba Oil
By
Kristin MillerThere are some natural ingredients that are so wonderfully and simply effective they are worthy of a little exploration. One of those ingredients is Jojoba Oil. Nope - it's not pronounced "joe-joe-bah" - it's "ho-HO-bah". Jojoba oil has many uses and a rich, wonderful history. Plus - it's relatively inexpensive and easy to find. So really - does it get much better than that?
Jojoba oil comes from the crushed seed of the Simmondsia Chinenis shrub that is found mainly in the deserts of the southwestern region of the United States and northern Mexico. Used for centuries by Native Americans, the oil has many uses including cosmetic, medicinal and nutritional purposes.
One of the special qualities about Jojoba Oil is that it not really "oil" but it is comprised of liquid wax esters. Sebum, a liquid wax ester found naturally in human skin, acts to waterproof and protect both hair and skin, keeping skin from becoming dry and brittle. It also can control the growth of microorganisms on the skin. Because Jojoba is so similar to sebum, it easily can emulate the same functions.
Jojoba has many benefits:
It is easily absorbed in the skin.
It is hypo-allergenic.
It does not clog pores.
It contains many key nutrients and minerals including: Vitamin E, Vitamin B complex, plus silicon, chromium, copper and zinc.
It also contains a high level of iodine - which could contribute to its antibacterial/antifungal properties.
Some of our favorite uses of Jojoba are:
Skin moisturizer. Especially good for face. Look for it as a main ingredient in skin products. It is found in almost all Garden Girl moisturizing products - body butters, body lotions, face creams, face masques and scrubs, hand cream, foot cream, body scrub and baby lotion. It truly is a wonderful emollient.
Hair repair. Jojoba is fantastic for hair. Tame flyaway hair or even repair dry or damaged hair with just a couple of drops. It takes only a little to add a little shine and smooth hair. I say this from experience - after having used more than a couple drops. Not good. So stick with 2 or 3 drops.
Eye make-up remover. Jojoba is the best eye make-up remover that I have found. You can pay big bucks for some fancy products, but nothing works as well as Jojoba, in my opinion. And it is much less expensive. Soak a cotton ball with Jojoba, and gently wipe off make-up. The bonus is that once your make-up is gone, you can gently pat the excess oil back into your skin around your eyes for added moisturizing. PLUS it is a great conditioner for your eyelashes.
Cuticles. Excellent cuticle oil. You'll be amazed at how quickly ragged, dry cuticles can be revived with a few drops of Jojoba oil.
Dry lip revitalizer. Tired of globbing on thick, greasy lip balm that never does the trick? Try a few drops of Jojoba. You'll be amazed!
With its long list of uses and its reasonable price, Jojoba oil is something you should keep in your medicine chest (or wherever you keep your 'stuff'). Look for it at health food stores, or other stores selling natural products.

Skin Care For Men
By
Alison ClarkeWhen it comes to skin care regimens, it's the women who are mostly identified with diligently maintaining them. However, this does not mean that men are excused from this particular practice. Proper caring for the skin is required not just for beauty but for the overall well-being and health of each person. Since the skin is the organ that protects us from toxins and dirt brought on by the outside world, it is also imperative that we pay as much attention to it as the rest of our body.
For the men folk, it takes more than just daily showers to look and feel good. Start with the basics and know what type of skin you have. Oily skin necessitates the use of oil-free skin products to avoid the breakout of those dreaded pimples. And just because you are way beyond your teens does not mean you cannot have pimples. Acne is caused by clogged up pores in the skin and can happen whether you are sixteen or sixty.
Dry skin calls for the use of skin care products with moisturizing components. Hydration is also a key in achieving a well-moisturized skin, so it pays to drink lots of water. Note: coffee and soft drinks does not count.
For those blessed with normal skin type, a good skin care regimen is still needed to maintain the good skin nature and genetics has blessed you with. And for those with a combination of oily and dry skin, diligence is the key in achieving and maintaining good skin.
When it comes to skin care products, there are several items that must be in men's list of must-haves. And no, you cannot just dip in into your wife's or your sister's stuff. With lots of skin care products especially formulated for men, there's no excuse not to go out and buy your own stash.
Start with a facial cleanser that corresponds to your skin type. This particular kind of product is used to remove dead skin and all the dirt that has attached itself to your face and neck. It pays to use mild ones, so as not to bring on any irritation. Apply cleanser early in the morning, to unclog those pores that contain sebum build-up during the night, and in the evening before going to bed, to remove all the dirt accumulated during the day.
Shaving cream is also one product that any man must have, as this is essential for shaving. Apply the cream and wait a full minute before commencing to shave. High quality shaving implements also contribute to achieving a clean shave, so get a good razor to save yourself from future hassles.
Applying a good after shave is also needed to achieve a fresh, clean look. Choose one that is not too harsh to your skin, as there are some brands that may dry up the skin. Consider buying those with antioxidants, as these products do help in achieving healthy skin and complexion.
Finally, men also need to apply moisturizers to their skin. This is not just for vanity, but also to protect the skin from further damage. As you go through the day, the sun and your surrounding environment takes a toll on your skin. Add the natural drying effects brought on by aging, and you have a big imperative in making your skin stay well-hydrated and protected. There are a lot of moisturizers out there especially designed for the different skin types of men, and you should not be afraid or embarrassed to try one.
And anyone who has lived with a woman, be it a romantic partner or a relative, knows the steps described above are but simple and easy ones compared to those maintained by the womenfolk, so do not ever think you are overdoing it. All it takes is a little effort and time, and you can face the world with confidence.
As well as skin care you also need essential
hair care. But there will be others who are unfortunate to suffer from
psoriasis. You can get all the
skin & hair care information here at this great new Blog.

Love Your Skin - Why Natural & Organic Is Best
By
Chloe WilliamsChemicals in skincare seem so often to slip beneath the radar when issues of greener living arise. People just don't think about the harmful effects that parabens and SLS can cause to the body.
Bathroom cabinets are full of trusted high street brands and women in particular are the culprits of fuelling this chemical ridden industry.
Many new companies have begun to stand against the accepted trend of petrochemical laden products. Puresha is a luxury natural and organic beauty boutique dedicated to sourcing the best and most exclusive 'eco luxe' brands from around the world.
The founder, Jo Cruickshanks has worked hard to make pure beauty a choice that doesn't feel like a compromise:
"Until now, making an ethical beauty choice has always meant a compromise on aesthetics, quality or performance. Puresha is designed to spark the excitement, indulgence and feel-good factor of any luxury beauty purchase. We not presenting an unrealistic, overly virtuous ideal - we're just making being good more fun, glamorous and exciting. You could say we're taking the notion of eco beauty out of its Birkenstocks and glamming it up in some sexy, sophisticated heels"
Going green in your beauty regime might be seen as a side category for eco living but it is the perfect way to get the ball rolling. By saying no to artificial preservatives, artificial colourants, artificial fragrances, petrochemicals, harsh detergents, DEA, TEA, toxic ingredients and animal testing you become part of a movement of people who are helping beauty become green.

Cold Sores - What's Cold About Them?
By
Richard EalomIntroduction
Cold sores are small and somewhat painful blisters that usually appear on or around a person's lips and are caused by the herpes simplex virus-1 (or HSV-1). The sores - also known as "fever blisters" - are quite different from canker sores, a condition people sometimes associate them with. They are very contagious and stay that way until the blisters scab over, and sometimes even afterwards. Fever Blisters can appear one at a time or in little grape like bunches, and are sometimes filled with fluid. They normally leave on their own within 7 to 10 days after their first appearance.
Herpes
Herpes simplex virus type 1 ("HSV1") generally only infects those body tissues that lie "above the waistline" and it is the virus that causes cold sores in the majority of cases. Herpes simplex is not curable, but may lie dormant for long periods of time. Signs and symptoms may not begin until as long as 20 days after exposure, and usually last seven to 10 days. The real cause of the sores is the virus creating new virus on the edge of your lip and/or nose.
Home remedies are probably your best course of action against the painful and unsightly sores. On occasions, if the cold sores are making a child sick, a doctor may prescribe a special medicine that fights the virus. The Majority of people become infected with the herpes simplex virus during their preschool years, most likely from eating or drinking after someone who has it or getting kissed by an adult with the virus, but not everyone who gets the virus develops sores.
Symptoms
Symptoms are usually most severe 8 hours after an outbreak and may include: tingling of the lips, small blisters on the lips and mouth that enlarge, burst, then crust, over itching and irritation of the lips and mouth, soreness of the lips and mouth. Symptoms can be very painful and cause a great deal of embarrassment. Initially the infection may cause no symptoms or mouth ulcers. The first signs of a fever blister usually appear within 1 or 2 weeks -- and as late as 3 weeks -- after contact with an infected person. Untreated, the symptoms will generally subside in 1 to 2 weeks. Antiviral medications given by mouth may shorten the course of the symptoms and decrease the pain.
Treatment
Cold sore treatments are of a great interest for all of us who suffer those painful and irritating fever blisters. For most kids, the sores go away on their own without any special treatment from a doctor. While they cannot be cured, if symptoms are severe, treatment may help alleviate some of the pain and discomfort. Most treatment options are focused on reducing the discomfort and pain and reducing the length of the outbreak. Some options may even help prevent the blisters from forming. For specific medical advice, diagnoses, and treatment, see your doctor. A licensed physician should be consulted for diagnosis and treatment of any and all medical conditions.
Conclusion
Cold sores, also referred to as "fever blisters," are painful, unsightly mouth sores that are caused by an outbreak of the herpes simplex virus and are not a sign of a recently acquired herpes simplex infection, but instead a re-activation of herpes virus particles already living in your body. They are usually found either: On or at the edge of a your lip and some times indicate a deficiency in Calcium. Cold sores AKA fever blisters are very common and also very contagious. If they aren't taken care of properly, they can cause bacterial skin infections. If you have them, it's important to see your doctor IF: you have another health condition that has weakened your immune system, the sores don't heal by themselves within 7 to 10 days, you get cold sores frequently.

Best Treatment For A Dry And Sensitive Skin Care
By
Tracy MaIf you have taken care of your skin from adolescence, by the time you reach your middle years you should only be dealing with "genetic" dryness. The easiest way to combat this is by avoiding using water or any treatments that might dry the skin out. Make-up is a tremendous help in this respect because a cream or liquid foundation is a moisturized base with color pigment added. If your skin is very dry, you will need an untinted moisturizer beneath.
I have found that the following regime works best for a skin that is dry or sensitive.
Cleanse the skin with a cleansing cream (preferably un-perfumed or only very lightly fragranced). Work it well into the face and neck, then remove it with tissues. Repeat twice if you are wearing make-up; in the morning once is sufficient. Wipe over the face with pads of cotton wool soaked only in tepid water or rosewater. Do not use a toner or freshener as these can dry out the outer layer faster than you would wish. Do not use a scrub, washing gel or face mask.
Great care is the key to looking after this type of skin. The more gently it is handled, with rich, emollient creams and gentle massage, the better it will respond. It will reward you with a good color tone and with softened lines.
Use a conditioning cream regularly, working it well into the skin in circular movements and leaving it to soak in for at least ten minutes before gently blotting away any surplus with a tissue. Do not go to bed with cream on your skin because it will only cause swollen eyes and, over a period of time, make the skin "heavy". Skin is a living thing and needs to be able to function.
The slight amount of oil the skin takes in is absorbed within ten minutes; anything left on the skin is surplus to requirements.
Sensitive skin types are in need of continual protection and a moisturizer is always necessary. Be careful, however, when buying this type of product: many now contain sun filters, which can be irritants to the person with sensitive skin.

It's Wise To Moisturize - Beauty
By
Davids JonesMoisturizers creams, lotions, oils work by attracting and trapping moisture and oil in the skin, leaving it soft and supple. They remove the dull, ashen appearance of dry skin that many women of color are prone to. A good moisturizer will also serve as a barrier between your skin and the elements, such as harsh wind and pollution.
Choosing the right moisturizer is key to keeping skin smooth while not clogging pores.
Moisturizers come in a variety of types, including ones that are oil-based, water-based, oil-free, and vitamin-enriched. To choose the best moisturizer for you, you'll need to consider your skin type and seasonal change.
For Oily Skin. Women with oily skin can typically forgo a moisturizer. Yes, despite what your mother may have taught you, moisturizers will not prevent wrinkles and you will normally not need moisturizer unless your skin gets dry in the winter. In that case, opt for an oil-free formula that hydrates the skin. Consider products containing glycerin or other humectants that draw moisture to skin without clogging pores or imparting a greasy feel to the skin (Fashion Fair Oil Free Moisturizer).
For Combination Skin. Apply a light lotion once or twice a day to the dry areas of the skin only. You will probably not need to apply the moisturizer to the fore-head and nose, which are typically oily. During the summer, switch to an oil-free product, such as Black Opal Oil Free Moisturizing Lotion, or eliminate it altogether.
For Normal Skin. You do not need to moisturize unless your skin becomes dry in winter or in certain climates. In that case, use an oil-free moisturizer like Black Opal Oil Free Moisturizing Lotion.
For Dry Skin. Moisturize two or three times a day, depending on your needs and your skin on a given day. During the fall and winter, use a rich cream or lotion designed for dry skin (Lancome Absolute Replenishing Creme SPF 15, Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream, Lubriderm Daily UV Lotion SPF 15, MD Forte Replenish Hydrating Cream Hydra Sorbet Aquatique, Moisturel Therapeutic Cream). Switch to a lighter lotion in the spring and summer. Avoid products containing vitamin A or retinol, which can further dry the skin. Also, steer clear of greasy products (Vaseline) that can clog pores, especially if your skin is acne prone.
For Sensitive Skin. Follow the guide for oily, dry, or combination skin, but choose your moisturizer carefully. A water based formula may be best. Avoid ingredients that can irritate your skin, such as alcohol, lanolin, retinol, vitamin A, PABA sunscreen, or fragrance. Products to try include Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion, Keri Sensitive Skin, Lubriderm Seriously Sensitive Lotion, and Neutrogena Moisture for Sensitive Skin.
For Hyperpigmenting Skin. In general, moisturizing hyperpigmentation prone skin whether it's dry, combination, or sensitive is important because excessive dryness of this type of skin can lead to itching, scratching, and discolorations. However, when selecting moisturizers it's best to avoid products with added ingredients such as vitamins, exfoliating acids (AHAs, BHAs) , and benzoyl peroxide unless you patch test your skin with these products. Those extra ingredients have the potential for inflaming the skin and then producing further hyperpigmentation. In other words, less is more. However, a moisturizer containing sunscreen, such as Olay Complete UV Protective Moisture Lotion or Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 15, may be beneficial in preventing suninduced pigmentation. When selecting moisturizers for this type of skin, follow the guidelines for sensitive skin.
Extras
Many moisturizers on the market contain a host of additional ingredients you may or may not need. These include the following.
Vitamins. Vitamin enriched products typically contain either vitamin CorE. These ingredients are considered antioxidants and may be beneficial for reducing sun damage and improving the appearance or the skin. Although preliminary studies may indicate improvement in the appearance of the skin with these products, many of the claimed benefits have not yet been proved definitively.
Vitamin A and retinol are often included in products for their anti aging and anti wrinkling properties. These products are beneficial in many cases, but excessive dryness and irritation of the skin can occur. Consult your dermatologist before selecting these products.
Additional supplements often included in skin-care products include coenzyme Ql0, Kinerase, niacin, copper peptides, and alpha lipoic acid. These ingredients are touted for their possible anti aging properties and may improve the skin's appearance in some women.
Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs). These acids exfoliate the top layer of skin. AHAs can reduce sun damage and acne and leave the skin with a wonderful glow, but overuse could irritate skin. I particularly like the MD Forte line of AHA products.
Sunscreen. Choosing a moisturizer containing sunscreen cuts out one step in your daily routine. The sunscreen should have an SPF of at least 15 in order to be effective.
Moisturizer Moves
To moisturize your facial skin effectively
" Apply the product directly onto damp skin after washing your face or showering. This way, the water is literally sealed into the top layers of your skin.
" Using your fingers, dot the moisturizer on forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin to ensure even distribution, then blend in.
DRY-SKIN TIP
Take shorter showers at lukewarm temperature. Then apply moisturizer directly onto damp skin.

The Benefits Of Vitamins For Healthy Skin
By
C.R. HayesYou want your appearance to look good and healthy. In doing so you must take care of your skin because aging creates wrinkles, lines, spots, and little growths that can lead to skin cancer. As we age, our skin also sags and tends to become dry and sometimes even rough.
Excessive ultraviolet sunlight can be extremely damaging to the skin no matter what your age.
Use a sunscreen to deter the effects of dryness and damage, and especially skin cancer. If you suspect any unsightly lesions to be of danger, see a dermatologist sooner than later.
Use lotions and/or cremes throughout the day and especially at bedtime for dryness or flakiness to re-hydrate from the outside.
Try to eat a proper diet to supply nutrients from the inside. If you can't eat well balanced meals everyday, think seriously about taking vitamin supplements for skin nutrients.
Healthy Skin Benefits Of Vitamins
A multivitamin with minerals will serve for good skin tone and nerve health.

Exercise Your Way to Glowing Skin
By
Alison ClarkeThere's no doubt that exercise can benefit the skin and maintain a healthy complexion. But what kind of exercise can one do to achieve the kind of skin that just glows?
Practically any exercise routine can provide beneficial effects on skin. Stretching is one good way to prepare the body for exercise, loosening up the muscles for any activity that will follow. This kind of activity does not take much effort, since even standing or sitting up straight already involve stretching. Simply extending your arms upwards and your legs forward constitutes stretching and are exercise in itself.
After stretching, one can proceed to more vigorous exercise routines, such as aerobic exercises. By definition, aerobic exercises are activities that increased blood circulation, making the delivery and transfer of oxygen more efficient throughout the rest of the body. This helps the skin in that it oxygenates the cells and helps remove toxins that we take in from eating processed foods and daily exposure to pollution, particularly smog and smoke.
Another exercise regimen that one can derive much pleasure from is bicycling. Apart from using leg muscles to its fullest capacity, riding a bike is also a popular recreational activity, allowing one to enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer. The sweat brought on by exercise not only cools the body, it also flushes out dirt and sebum produced by glands in the skin. This reduces the breakout of acne and allows the pore of the skin to breathe.
Running is also a popular exercise routine, especially for those near parks and woodlands. This particular activity can be especially enjoyable when done with friends or family. Running is a well-recognized form of dealing with stress brought on by daily lives. For those living with hectic schedules and are constantly plagued by deadlines, running allows some form of release from all the tension experienced by the mind and the body. This form of exercise also provides much benefit to the skin. Acne breakouts are associated with increased levels of male hormones in the body. Women, in particular, produce these hormones in smaller quantities. However, stress can cause the adrenal glands to increase its secretions of male hormones, leading to the occurrence of those dreaded pimples. Ergo, those whose skins are prone to acne breakouts can achieve clearer complexion through exercise. Reducing stress also means lesser chances of frowning, thereby helping to avoid the formation of lines around the mouth and eyes.
Consequently, running, or other forms of exercise like swimming, dancing, even weight lifting, also reduces the appearance of wrinkles by enhancing the build up of collagen in the body. For those not in the know, collagen is the substance that makes any part of our bodies firm and perky. Therefore, those who have no wishes to show signs of aging should make it a point to incorporate exercise in their daily or weekly routines.
Of course, all these exercise would come to naught if no changes in the overall lifestyle of a person. The benefits of exercise on the skin will not be achieved if one continues to smoke, drink heavily, and take drugs. These substances adversely affect the overall health of the skin, and must be avoided at all cost in order to achieve your best physically. Sleepless nights also contribute to unhealthy skin and appearance, so be sure to make it a point to get enough sleep.

Can You Get Rid Of Stretch Marks On Your Body?
By
Jayna DavisAfter all the trauma of developing stretch marks, you must be wondering can you get rid of stretch marks on your skin? It's only natural to want those little nuisances to disappear. I'll be sharing a few tips with you that most women underestimate or dismiss altogether.
I know that stretch marks can be removed. It won't be the easiest thing in the world, but it's far from impossible.
One factor that helps in getting rid of stretch marks is health. In order to be healthy you simply must cut the junk foods out of your diet. If you really want those scars to heal, you'll listen when I tell you this.
Health has everything to do with how quickly and how efficiently your body can heal itself. How is your body ever supposed to deal with minor skin injuries like stretch marks when it has bigger things to worry about (like your heart, lungs, other vital organs, etc.)
Stopping any smoking, excess alcohol consumption, all trans-fat consumption (stay away from foods that have any hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils in the ingredients list), excess sodium intake, and excess preservative/chemical intake willl help your body with it's healing a great deal.
Instead of harming your body with junks, make sure you're eating enough vegetables, fruits, fiber, healthy oils, and drinking enough water. Not only will your skin start looking better, but you'll start feeling better. Living a healthy lifestyle is the first and most critical step to healing stretch marks.
The next are you have to work on is skin care. This doesn't mean that you have to use lotions. In fact, I encourage you to get rid of all lotions and stretch mark creams that you probably have lying around. They don't do anything for most women, especially if your stretch marks are more than a few months old.
Instead, you should take care of your skin with olive oil. Use olive oil on your stretch marks as often as you can. This natural oil, unlike lotions, will penetrate deep into your skin and provide unbelievable amounts of moisture.
It might smell a little different from those lotions that most women are used to, but I actually see this as a good thing. Olive oil doesn't contain any fragrances of perfumes that could irritate and possibly damage your skin. It doesn't' contain any fillers or preservatives either. How often can you say that about a stretch mark lotion or cream? The fact is that any vegetable oil is a whole lot healthier for your skin than the cosmetic companies want you to know.
These are two steps you can start taking right away to help your body deal with stretch marks. If you would like even more information about completely wiping stretch marks out, you can visit
http://goawaystretchmarks.com/ for my proven formula.
Want to learn stretch mark removal secrets that the cosmetic companies are hiding from you? Don't be fooled any longer. Learn
how to really remove stretch marks.

Simple Ways To Cut Skin Care Product Costs
By
Celeste LynneWhy does it seem like skin care products are so expensive? What I find so interesting is that the prices range from just a few dollars for certain items available at your local discount retailer to hundreds at department stores and medical facilities.
It has often been said that quality has its price and your precious skin is not something you want to skimp on. So how do you get the very best products to meet your specific needs while spending the least amount possible?
First of all, you should realize that getting the care your skin needs is an investment in you - your health, your appearance and your self-confidence. But that is not to say you should spend huge amounts of money needlessly. By finding quality products that do exactly what you need them to do - no more and no less - you'll be getting the best deal possible.
Alternatively, if you just purchase a skincare cream because it's cheap, you're just wasting money if it doesn't meet your needs. In fact, you might as well not use anything in that instance. It's similar to buying a dress that's on sale at an unbelievable price and then letting it sit in your closet for years. Eventually you just toss it out or donate it to charity. It may have been a good deal for someone else, but it wasn't for you.
Once you find the skin care product you need and want, then it's time to search for the best deal. There are a number of places online that offer the exact same products you'll find in a department store but at a fraction of the price. Many of them offer free shipping and even send samples along with your order. You won't miss out on anything except the crowds at the mall by ordering skincare treatments this way.
Aside from bargain shopping, there are other ways to save on skin care needs. Here are just a few to consider:
- Don't feel like you need to buy the latest and greatest. Products that have been around for awhile can still work well for you - that's why they're still around. Avoid getting caught up in the hype that always surrounds the introduction of a new wrinkle cream or firming serum. Stick to the basics.
- Protect your skin from further damage and aging by avoiding overexposure to the sun. When you're out, be sure to apply a quality sunscreen to all exposed areas.
- If you smoke, quit. If you live with or spend a lot of time with smokers, encourage them to quit or limit your time around them while they are smoking. Cigarette smoke can cause damage to both your skin and your health, even if it is second-hand.
- Drink plenty of water and cut down on caffeine and alcohol. You've heard it before - adequate water consumption keeps you hydrated and helps all systems in your body to function properly.
If you're not taking care of yourself, expect that to be reflected in your skin regardless of the products you use.
- Get your beauty sleep. If you don't believe rest has an impact on you skin, just go look in the mirror after a too-short night.
- Keep stress in check. Both your health and skin suffer when stress is a common occurrence in your life. Take the necessary steps to minimize it as much as possible.
By taking care of yourself, accurately assessing your skin care needs and shopping around at online stores for the best deals and perks, you'll be able to cut down on your skin care product expenses and still make that all-important investment in yourself.

Cold Sores - The Silent Menace
By
John SteeleCold sores also called fever blisters are caused by the virus known as herpes simplex type1 (HSV-1). There are eight different kinds of human herpes virus but only herpes simplex 1 and 2 can cause fever blisters. Though herpes simplex virus type 1 is responsible for most cold sores in the area of the lips, both herpes virus 1 and 2 can cause lesions on the lips or the genitals. But herpes simplex type 1 is usually responsible for recurrent cold sores that occur on the mouth and nose.
A cold sore presents as a small painful fluid filled blister that appears on the lip or edge of the mouth in an area called the vermilion border, they can appear alone or form small clusters. The skin around the blister becomes red or inflamed. The blisters will often break open and weep clear fluid. When a fever blister erupts large numbers of herpes virus particles are shed or released and as a result it is easy to infect others with the virus at this time. This is the period when the virus is most virulent and good hand washing and attention to personal hygiene will help protect you from spreading the virus to your family or others. After the blister breaks open and begins to dry out it usually heals with 7 to 10 days.
Cold sores should not be confused with Canker sores, which only occur inside the soft tissue of the mouth and are not viral in origin. Some cold sores will announce their arrival several days before they appear. The lip may begin to tingle or throb for no apparent reason and a few days later a red tender sore emerges. Sometimes this blister is mistaken for a zit, but unlike a pimple a fever blister oozes a clear fluid.
Many times fever blisters appear after a cold, exposure to the sun, periods of high stress or during menstruation. Any stressor that weakens the immune system may allow stimulate the herpes virus into exacerbation. If a person has chronic outbreaks of fever blisters it's probably a sign the immune system has been weakened or compromised and it would be a good idea to see a physician.
Any one can become infected with the herpes virus and most people with the virus are infected before the age of ten. Once you are infected with the virus you're infected for life. By the age of 14 more than 70% of children test positive for HSV-1 virus. The virus affects everyone differently. After the first attack some people never have another, while others have attacks infrequently, and others have them quite often.
Some scientists believe that once your infected you will always be potentially contagious. They claim that a person infected can have active herpes virus in the saliva. Though this view is extreme it's a good idea to keep in mind 7 out of 10 people carry the virus and about a third of them don't even know it because they never have a cold sore out break.
Cold sores are insidious and can cause emotional distress. Unfortunately, at this time there is no cure for fever blisters. But there are remedies for them, which are quite effective, and herpes simplex - 1 can be managed. Don't let cold sores interfere with your life there is effective treatment that will reduce their severity and frequency of their outbreaks..

8 Steps To Win The Battle Against Dry Winter Skin
By
Anna WoodwardWinter is the season of itchy, flaky, and irritated skin. There are a number of products out there, like dry body oil spray, that work wonders. There are also quite a few things you can do to keep your complexion healthy and well nourished.
1 - Drink Lots Of Water. This is a simple thing most of us forget to do, and it can have many benefits during winter when the air is dry. Your body needs water constantly, and having several glasses throughout the day will ensure that your body gets what it needs. This water rejuvenates every part of your body, and even gets to your pores. Drink lots of water, and you will notice a much more beautiful complexion.
2 - Use Cold Water. Whenever you are rinsing your hands or washing, use cold water in the winter. This may seem odd, but actually hot water dries you out.
3 - Get Rid Of Dry Skin. Have you noticed how a certain area of your face or hands gets dehydrated, and then seems to keep getting drier and drier? This is because the dead skin actually blocks the pores and keeps the healthy cells from getting the moisture it needs. To prevent this, you should remove any flaky area that you find. The best way to do this is gently with a washcloth or soft scrub brush and cool water.
4 - Use All Natural Products For Relief. When you buy lotion, cream, or gel, always have a good look at the ingredients. The more natural ingredients it contains, the better. Watch out for alcohol, glycerin or other chemical agents that might worsen the problems. The most effective moisturizing product is dry body oil spray. It nourishes excellently, and dries quickly.
5 - Add Olive Oil To Your Bath Water. Sound like an old folk remedy? Maybe it is, but it works. Just a couple spoonfuls of olive oil in your bath water will help moisturize naturally while you bathe. It's worked for hundreds of years, and it still does!
6 - Avoid Stress. One of the reasons we have dry skin outbreaks is because of stress. The real cause is the winter air, but stress can exacerbate those problems and make them a much bigger problem. How do you best avoid stress? Let's just say that you can add your dry skin woes to your list of excuses to treat yourself to a spa and massage!
7 - Get A Pre-Winter Facial. This is not just an excuse to treat yourself! A facial helps slough off old, dead cells and let your new complexion shine. This kind of rejuvenation can help fight dry skin by keeping your skin healthy and fresh. Talk to your local aesthetician for a consultation.
8 - Protect Yourself From The Sun. It's easy to remember to use sunscreen in the scorching summer months, but in the winter when you're doing more shivering than sunbathing, it can be easy to forget. The rays of the sun can wreak havoc on your skin's moisture, so always make sure you've got some sunscreen on if you might get some sun.
These are just a few simple things you can do to keep your skin healthy and happy. Don't forget to compliment your routine with a good all-natural dry body oil spray or cream.
Vinci & Rakos always uses natural extacts, minerals and vitamins in their formulas. Their
dry body oil spray leaves a soft, long lasting, moisturizer of oils and vitamins. Feel the soft protection from dry winter air.

Skin Burns And Their Treatment
By
Grant FernsBefore applying a burn treatment, the burning agent must be stopped from inflicting further harm, for example, fires are extinguished, clothing, specially any that is smoldering (such melted synthetic clothes), covered with hot tar, or soaked with chemicals must be removed immediately.
Home care includes maintaining the burn clean to prevent infection. Also, many patients are given analgesics, for at least a few days. The burn can be covered with a nonstick bandage or with sterile gauze. The gauze can be eliminated without sticking by first being soaked in water.
Hospitalization is sometimes needed for optimal care of burn injuries. Burns that keep a person from doing essential daily actions, like walking or eating, make hospitalization necessary. Severe burns, deep second- and third-degree burns, burns occurring in the very young or the very old, and burns involving the hands, feet, face, or genitals are commonly best treated at burn centers. Burn centers are hospitals that are specially equipped and staffed to care for burn patients.
Burn Scars - Their ClassificationSuperficial Minor Burns: The burn is carefully cleaned to prevent infection. If dirt is deeply embedded, a doctor can administer analgesics or numb the area by injecting a local anesthetic and then scrub the lesion with a brush.
Deep Minor Burns: The burn may need evaluation at a hospital or doctor's office, possibly as often as daily for the first few days.
For this kind of burn commonly skin graft may be needed. Most skin grafts replace the damaged skin. Other skin grafts help by temporarily covering and protecting the skin as it cures on its own. In a skin grafting procedure, a patch of healthy skin is taken from an unburned area of the person's body (autograft), from another living or dead person (allograft), or from different species (xenograft)usually pigs because their skin is very similar to human skin. The skin graft is surgically sewn over the damaged area after removing any dead tissue and ensuring that the wound is clean. Autografts are forever. Allografts and xenografts, however, are rejected after 10 to 14 days by the person's immune system. Artificial skin has been created recently and can also be used to replace the damaged skin. Burned skin can be replaced anytime within several days of the burn.
Severe Burns: Severe, life-threatening burns need immediate care.
Keeping the burned area clean is crucial, because the injured skin is easily infected.
Because grievous burns take a long time to cure, sometimes years, and can cause disfigurement, the sufferer can become depressed.
Skin burns and other delicate conditions can now be cured using a biological
skin care product designed to regenerate your skin and eliminate scars and other imperfections.

Water Can Make All The Difference To Your Skin
By
Brian PotterIf you are showing signs of lying in the sun too long in that your skin looks as if it might be taking on that dried out and shriveled prune like appearance, never fear because you might just be able to turn things back into your favor quite simply by drinking more water. It will not only give you plumper, more radiant skin but your overall health will benefit too.
Don't neglect the situation, act now as you could well be starting out on the road to becoming old and wrinkly later on in life, it's such an easy compromise, just don't sit too long in the sun and regularly try to drink at least 2 liters of water daily, that's around 3 pints or so.
There are many of us who are regularly dehydrated suffering lethargy and headaches just because we don't drink enough water. Water will flush out toxins from the system as well as keeping you hydrated and benefiting your skin.
It's deep down in the dermis among the skin's cell structure where the liquid is required to plump up the cells and prepare them for their upward journey to the surface of the skin as replacements to the dead skin cells that we shred during the normal processes of cell replacement.
The lines, wrinkles and blemishes we see are because the natural cell structure and replacement cycle is being disrupted by chemical reactions due to free radicals all working against the natural processes and so by assisting the cells to maintain their normal liquid levels we are going some way towards correcting some of the self inflicted damage caused by our modern busy and hectic lifestyles.
It might seem an awful lot, drinking over 3pints of water, about six to eight glasses, each day but you don't have to drink them down quickly in huge gulps, as long as you take on the liquid it does not matter if you merely take it in small sips throughout the day.
The skin cells still alive and kicking on the skin's surface could also do with a watering now and then so just occasionally splash your skin with water, pat dry and immediately apply a moisturizer, Here's a tip, carry a small aerosol spray filled with water, this is particularly beneficial if you are working in centrally heated office environments or taking long haul flights.
Brian Potter can help you with anti aging skin care problems including bags under eyes, puffy eyes and how to remove dark circles under eyes.

Wound Healing Process
By
Valerie GarnierIn man and domestic pets, scarring left after a trauma, surgery, burn or sports injury is an important health problem, usually resulting in altered aesthetics, loss of function, restriction of tissue elasticity and/or growth and adverse psychological effects.
Current treatments are empirical, troublesome and uncertain: there are no prescription medicines for the avoidance or treatment of dermal scarring. Skin wounds on early mammalian embryos heal perfectly with no scars whereas wounds in adult mammals scar.
Scientists are researching the cellular and molecular differences between perfect healing in embryonic and adult wounds. Important differences include the inflammatory reaction, which in embryonic wounds consists of fewer quantities of less differentiated inflammatory cells. This, together with augmented levels of morphogenetic molecules involved in skin growth and morphogenesis, means that the growth factor profile in a healing embryonic wound is very different from that in an adult wound.
These experiments produced scar-free wound healing in adults. Such studies have allowed the recognition of therapeutic targets; a correct treatment evidently improves or completely avoids scarring during adult wound healing in experimental animals. Some of these new medications have successfully passed safety tests and others. This has permitted them to enter human clinical trials with approval from the appropriate regulatory authorities. Based on encouraging results obtained from these experiments lead medications have now entered human patient-based trials e.g. in skin graft donor sites.
The theory is that evolutionary factors have been exerted on medium sized, widespread, dirty wounds with high tissue damage e.g. bites, bruises and contusions. Modern wounds (e.g. resulting from trauma or surgery) caused by sharp instruments and healing in a clean or aseptic environment with close tissue apposition are new situations, not previously found in Nature and to which the evolutionary selected wound healing reactions are somewhat inappropriate. It has been demonstrated that both healing with scarring and regeneration can happen within the same animal, including man, and indeed within the same tissue, thereby suggesting that they share similar mechanisms and regulators.
Consequently, by subtly altering the ratio of growth factors present in adult wound healing, we can induce adult wounds to heal perfectly with no scars, with accelerated healing and with no adverse consequences, e.g. on wound strength or wound infection rates. This means that scarring may no longer be an ineludible sequel of modem injury or surgery and that a completely new pharmaceutical approach to the avoidance of human scarring is now possible. Not only skin suffers from scarring; they can appear in many other tissues as well.
Thus scar-healing treatments could have extensive benefits and prevent complications in several tissues, e.g. prevention of blindness after scarring due to eye injury, support of neuronal reconnections in the peripheral and central nervous system by the avoidance of glial scarring, recovery of normal gut and reproductive function by avoiding strictures and adhesions after injury to the gastrointestinal or reproductive tracts, and restoration of locomotor function by avoiding scarring in tendons and ligaments.
Scars caused by wounds, burns or surgeries can now be easily faded using a natural
skin care product with an exclusive formulation that rejuvenates injured cells.
