My friend's granddaughter was suffering horribly from dry itchy skin. She scratched herself raw and drew blood. When she wasn't scratching she lay listless and we were all very worried about her. The cortisone cream prescribed by the doctor helped, but could not be used indefinitely without dangerous side effects.
We needed to find a rich lotion that would nourish and heal. We'd already tried several that seemed like thin soup and did nothing. As we were trying to steer clear of chemicals we researched and asked for help. We had to save this poor girl.
We ultimately learned a great deal about what it would take. Anything containing chemicals was ruled out. These would only make her dry itchy skin worse.
The most obvious chemicals we found listed were parabens, fragrances and mineral oil. Parabens were used as filler. Parabens can cause cancer! Fragrances can irritate and worse. Mineral oil clogs the pores and won't even allow the skin to breathe.

Free radicals are the enemy and our bodies make them, even when we are doing something good like exercising.
While the grandmother and I desperately searched for a solution for this poor child she endured many bouts of scratching and had several infections. She was even hospitalized but we were glad they didn't keep her as we were afraid she could get a staff infection.
