The Role Of Your Skin When It Is Oily
By Louise Forrest

Skin is the outermost covering of our body which protects us from external shocks and harmful sun rays and keeps out germs and dirt. Though main functions of the are the same in every human being, still people have different types of skin, like oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, normal skin etc.

Oily skin is one which looks shiny and dull and in most cases have pimples or blemishes on it.
The main cause of oily skin is increased flow of sebum or oil by sebaceous glands. Oily skin may be by birth or it may become at any stage. Some of the known causes for oily skin are i) hormonal, ii) hereditary, iii) dietary, iv) amount and quality of cosmetics used. Secretion of oil may vary as per the age of the person. It may be more in adolescent years and during pregnancy or menopause. This is due to the reason that during these stages hormonal changes take place which may affect the oil glands too.

Oily skin has its advantages and disadvantages. The most important advantage of oily skin is that it looks and stays younger for longer time as compared to other skin types. But the disadvantage of the skin is that it requires a lot of care and looking after.

To keep the oily skin healthy we need to keep it clean by washing it regularly with warm water and oil free cleanser. But be careful of doing this only three to four times a day, because mashing your face more than this may harm it by aggravating the oil glands to produce more oil. Do not use harsh cleanser that may cause harm to your skin.

Always use quality product for cleaning your skin and proper care should be given to your hair also. Oil based products are good for this purpose. But your moisturizer should be oil free.
Apply mud mask with a few drops of lemon juice and rose water. This will help make your skin look good.

People having oily skin should also take care of their diet, as it affects their skin too. You diet should be rich in protein and low in sugar and fat. They should also include fresh fruits and green vegetables in their diet. Eat a diet that is rich in iron and other minerals. This helps the oil glands to be in control. One very important thing is drinking plenty of water to keep the natural moisture of the skin, and it also helps in flushing out the toxins produced by the body.
Otherwise, these toxins may cause various dry skin problems. Cutting down alcoholic or carbonated drink's consumption is also required.

Though oily skin looks good, but applying make up on it is a bit problematic, for it becomes patchy after some time and looks very awkward. Before putting on make up. apply cucumber juice on certain areas like nose, chin etc., where oil production is more. Remove excess oil from face just dab it with soft tissue. Never rub or scrub the skin with harsh materials, it may harm your skin. By taking these few very simple precautions you will enjoy a healthy and beautiful skin that is not oily.
