Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Spray Tanning
By Melanie Vasseur

It is quite normal for people who like to have a tan all year round to use tanning booths throughout the year. It has become a recognized fact that too much sun is dangerous for our skin and causes many problems which is why the new artificial methods have proved so popular.
Across America (and other countries) there has been in increase in artificial techniques with spray tanning high up on that list. The spray system appears to be more consistent than other artificial methods like crams or lotions where streak marks are not uncommon.

Although the popularity is still to be proved, systems using the new spray tanning technology have been designed for home use. Whichever method you decide upon there are some simple but basic steps needed to ensure the best effect. Initially you need to exfoliate which will eliminate all the dead skin cells from your body. The last thing you want is to have dead skin dropping off and leaving lighter patches where it once was.

To complete this part of the preparation, the skin needs to be moist and ready to accept the tan so a good skin moisturizer will need to be applied all over. Before applying a tanning agent, whether bottle or cream, ensure you are wearing gloves or the orange palms that will follow will give the game away. To avoid any other application mistakes that could give away the fact that the tan is not real, make sure those fingers, feet, elbows and knees are only given the lightest of coats as they have a habit of coming out darker. When a spray tanning system is used a towel will be needed to wipe off any excess which could cause a streak.

To avoid any smears, marks or cracking, you will need to relax and remain still, while the tanning agent dries. Don't forget to wear some old clothes as fake tan is notorious for staining almost anything it touches. The best advice here is to have a change of clothing that is darker than the color of the tan as this way it will not notice. Applying an artificial tan successfully means there are a few rules to follow which should ensure it looks as genuine as possible.
