With cold weather often comes dry hands; so dry that many people experience bleeding and discomfort. Even mild dryness is unpleasant. Ignoring the problem won't make it go away - at least not easily. By giving your hands some TLC, you will improve your skin's appearance and your own happiness. Aim to treat your skin right by following these tips for taking care of your hands during winter - and beyond.
.) Exfoliate regularly. Pick a body scrub or special hand scrub and use it weekly on your hands. Be sure to take your time rubbing in the treatment and wash thoroughly with lukewarm water.
.) Use moisturizing hand soap. Hand washing is as important in winter as it is in summer. Unfortunately, when the humidity is already low and your hands are already dry, washing your hands can be damaging. Be sure to use moisturizing hand soap each time you wash. Keep a portable, smell-good moisturizing soap in your purse so that you can moisturize when you wash wherever you are. The smell will be good for your frame of mind too.
.) Apply a medicated lotion. Lotions are not all created equal. Some are thin, some are greasy and some are great. Pick one specially designed for hands and apply it regularly. Keep it in your purse.
.) Skip the scalding water. Using hot water when washing your hands can make your hands drier. Keep the temperature of the water you wash your hands with lukewarm. If you soak in a hot bath, add some bath oils to soften up the water.
