Hand Skin Care
By Blanca Ciotoiu
During the day our hands are exposed to constant aggression from external factors, such as water, cold weather, sun exposure, daily chores...Hand skin care is very important if we want to avoid old and wrinkled hands before our time.
We are exposing our hands to others all the time, and it can create a good impression if they are well looked after. For hand skin care we could go to a beauty salon or spa and leave the professionals take good care of our hands with a specialized hand care treatment. But if we don't have the money or the time to go to a beauty salon, then taking care of our hands at home is really easy.
Apart from wearing sunscreen in your face and neck, apply it also in your hands to protect them from sunspots and wrinkles. Use a good hand moisturizer daily and every time you feel your skin dry and tight. It is also very effective to bathe them in natural products at least three times a week to keep your hands soft and moisturized.
Hand Skin Care Recipes

You will need two spoons of cacao cream, two spoons of almond oil and a liquidized cucumber.
Melt the cacao cream and add the almond oil and the cucumber. Mix well all the ingredients and use it as a hand care cream, applying it with a massage. Add more almond oil to the mixture, and bathe your hands on it for five minutes to intensify the effect.
2- Olive oil hand care
Rub your hands with warm olive oil, leave it on for about five minutes and rinse off with warm water and natural soap. For an intensive hand care treatment leave it overnight, but wear some cotton gloves.
3- Hand skin care with milk
You will need a glass of milk and lemon juice. Warm the milk and add the lemon juice. Mix well and leave your hands in this mixture for about ten minutes. Avoid if you have any cuts or wounds in your hands.
4- Oats hand mask
You will need a glass of water, one spoon of oats flour, olive oil and glycerin. Mix all the ingredients until consistent. Apply the resulting paste over the hands with a massage. Leave it on for twenty five minutes and rinse off with warm water and natural soap. This oats hand mask will regenerate the hands and get rid of any hand redness.

8 Effective Ways To Banish Your Wrinkles
By Sharon A Bell
Wrinkles and fine lines are as inevitable as death and taxes. All adults in the planet will experience the appearance of laugh lines, crow lines and other forms of wrinkles sometime in life. However, you can delay these signs of aging on your face if you just know what to do. It is never too early or too late to follow the tips below to help you banish your wrinkles and fine lines away:
Always Shield Your Skin From The Sun
The number one cause of early skin aging and the development of wrinkles and blemishes is the sun. Thus, you need to wear sunscreen with sun protection factor that is at least 45. It is imperative that you wear sunscreen everyday even if you are indoors because your skin is not immune from photo damage emitted by the very bright lights that are used in places like the office, photo studios, and industrial plants.
Clean Your Skin Thoroughly But Gently
Some old women are afraid to thoroughly clean their face thinking that this can contribute to dryness and appearance of fine lines. However, you need deep cleansing in order to bring out that youthful glow. You need to regularly remove deep-seated dead skin cells, dirt and oil to prevent dull skin. To prevent dryness, use products that are not harsh on the skin.
Moisturize Inside Out
It is a known fact that dryness can really lead to wrinkles and fine lines. The best way to beat dryness is through moisturizing your skin, not only from outside, but also from within. You can help moisturize your skin from the inside by drinking plenty of water. Dehydration is the leading cause of skin dryness.
It is also important to lavish your face with creams and moisturizers to keep your skin hydrated and smooth. Your body also needs oils or lotions to maintain its elasticity and suppleness.
Quit Smoking
If you want to maintain your youth, and also your health, it is but wise to give up smoking. This nasty habit not only speeds up skin aging, but it also inhibits cell restoration and regeneration. Smoking is also responsible for giving you premature lines and wrinkles around the mouth and sluggish-looking gray skin.
Give Circulation A Boost
Use a facial scrub and exfoliate your skin every once in a while. This will help in improving blood circulation on the face, giving you a rosy and healthy glow. Exfoliating also helps in skin renewal and scrubbing off dead skin cells.
Mask Existing Lines
If you already have wrinkles and fine lines, you really do not have to wear a mask just like the Phantom of The Opera. There are actually good concealers and foundations that can help reduce the appearance of these skin imperfections. If Hollywood celebrities can hide their true age through make up, why can't you?
Be Conscious About The Weather
Extreme heat and cold can cause dryness. As a result, you need to make little changes to your beauty regimen to take into consideration the weather and the present season. You might need to apply moisturizer more often during the winter to prevent your skin from drying, or you can buy a waterproof SPF for your face and body when you are at the beach in summer. The bottom line is you need to know how your skin reacts to different weather conditions so you can find ways to address skin problems.
Use Anti-Aging Products
As early as 30, you already need products that will help delay your skin's aging process.
However, since there are many anti-aging creams in the market, you need to carefully choose the products that you put on your face. It would really help if you choose an anti-aging cream that is all-natural and hypoallergenic. An effective ant-aging cream you might want to try is Rejuvinol. How Soaps Work To Clean Your Skin
By Sharon A Bell
Every woman wants to have soft and attractive skin. But germs, contaminants, and dirt get embedded into the pores of the skin and cause a chain reaction that leads to all sorts of skin problems. Skin problems can leave your skin with unwanted spots, lines, and even scars.
Healthy flawless skin starts with the habit of cleansing away germs, contaminants and dirt from your skin. But, simply using water to do this can never be enough. So for centuries, soaps have been the main instruments used for skin cleansing. And even today, when there are many types of cleansers available for the skin, just about everyone still makes use of soaps when taking a bath or washing the hands and the face.
Soaps come in all shapes and sizes. But that's not all; they are also manufactured to cater to all types of skin. For instance, there are soaps that are good for dry skin and those that can help oily skin. Some soaps are specially formulated with medicinal properties to help you deal with skin problems like pimples and ringworm. Still, other soaps have hypoallergenic characteristics to keep sensitive skin safe from irritating allergic reactions.
All soaps are basically composed of fatty acids. Fat substances used for making soaps can be taken from vegetable or animal sources. Whenever you use soap, these ingredients will wrap harmful foreign particles that have been trapped in your skin's own natural secretions; this allows water, with a little help from your hands, to easily strip off the unwanted contaminants. Fatty acids in soaps also make it a lot easier for you to remove dried out perspiration which can produce bad body odor.
Today's soap, however, are not just made from fatty acids. There are countless additives that have been included into your ordinary bar of soap. Two of the most common soap additives are fragrances and moisturizing agents.
Fragrances
Have you ever smelled animal or vegetable fat? Well, fat odors are not exactly pleasant. So, soap makers have added fragrances to improve the smell of soap bars. Fragrances added to soaps can come from a wide variety of sources, from ordinary plants to chemically formulated odors.
Beauty soaps are normally added with plant fragrances to emphasize the feel for nature's cleansing touch. Rose, lavender and citrus are mainstays when it comes to soap fragrances.
Soaps using natural fragrances rarely induce skin irritation.
Body odors are caused by the presence of bacteria on your skin; particularly on the armpits, feet and the crotch. So for medicated and odor-fighting soaps, active ingredients like triclocarban and triclosan are added to keep off bacteria. The odor from these chemicals can bring forth that clean feeling in you. These chemicals also leave traces on your skin so that you stay fresh and smelling great even hours after your bath. However, as these substances are chemically produced, soaps with triclocarban and triclosan may cause allergic reaction in some people.
Moisturizing Agents
Moisturizers are added to soaps to help prevent dryness on your skin. Cleansing, while beneficial for overall derm care, may strip off natural oils produced by your skin and may lead to irritation and even infection. To make up for this, moisturizing agents like glycerin and lanolin have been added to soaps.
Indeed, if you want to have that spotless skin, begin and end your day by cleansing your skin with soap. But remember, not just any soap will do. Always be sure that the soap you use will match the qualities and needs of your skin; be particularly discriminating when it comes to the face area because this is the most sensitive among all the other skin areas. On top of soaps, you can also bring your skin care efforts to the next level by using products like Lumnaderm.

Environmental and Emotional Stress Can Take a Toll on Your Skin
By Valentina Bellocchio
Anxiety and stress not only wrecks havoc on your mind but also on your complexion. Are you stressed out at the office or in your home life? Is your skin red, prone to acne pimples, or affected by disorders like dry skin and rosacea? Chances are there is a direct correlation between the mental angst you feel at work or at home and the health of your skin.
There is not one single person on the planet who likes stress. While it can be beneficial in making you finish that last second presentation or studying for your psychology final, it can be disastrous when you are up all night anguishing over credit cards or the loss of a loved one.
What anxiety does is directly alter the hormonal balances in your body. When these vital balances are modified, your skin shows it. Lasting stress changes the body's biochemistry and is responsible for triggering an increase in sebum production, an opening of the sebaceous glands, rosacea problems, and oily skin.
The bad news doesn't end there. Emotional anxiety isn't the only form of stress that can corrupt your skin. Environmental pollution and poor air quality can lead to skin conditions. We all know mills put tons of pollutants into the air just like cars do. The problem is smaller elements like animal dander, adhesives, mold, wind, and high levels of humidity can affect skin. What are we to do with apparently everything on the planet producing stress? How can we avert stress, or at least fight it, and have beautiful skin?
What can you do to insure a stress-free existence and therefore healthy skin? Taking the time to lessen your daily stress can pay off in healthier skin. A couple hints can help people have a clean complexion. Try to:
* Relax. This is obviously easier said then done but it is important to take a deep breath every couple minutes and center yourself.
* Eat right. Eating a greasy cheeseburger won't give you a zit the next morning but your overall diet does affect your skin. Enjoying lots of fruits and vegetables and drinking lots of water will keep skin strong.
* Avoid smoking cigarettes and reduce the consumption of alcohol. Smoking and drinking alcohol reduces white blood cells and therefore immunity. In turn, the skin becomes more vulnerable to mental and physiological stressors.
* Hit the gym. The benefits of daily exercise and stress reduction are huge. Exercise also improves the health of skin by cleaning pores and improving oxygen levels in skin cells.
Let's be candid here, stress and skin care is not a new concept but yet reducing anxiety is never as painless as people make it seem. When stress, both mental and environmental, is relentless, your body's hormone levels can skyrocket, adversely altering the skin and how it functions.
Since stressed skin is damaged skin, what it needs most is to be soothed and renewed to regain its natural appearance and radiance.
There is a new all natural skin care adaptogen that will effectively treat blemishes and afflictions aroused by stress while helping alleviate and soothe stressed skin while simultaneously addressing skin regeneration. The biological ingredient works together with other all natural ingredients to:
* Remove damaged cells within the skin by the workings of biological enzymes.
* Revitalize the capacity of the skin to remain hydrated by triggering the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans, the components that give skin its capacity to maintain moisture.
* Destroy free radicals using its potent antioxidants.
* Stop the activity of manacing, pathogenic skin bacteria.
* Control dermal fibroblast development and excess collagen.
* Manage blood vessel development and oxygenation within the capillaries in the skin contributing to its appropriate nourishment.
* Stimulate the use of the amino acids that the biological enzymes free and activates fibroblast stem cells which favor the proliferation of new strong connective tissues and all the structural elements of healthy skin
* Prompt the construction of the extracellular binding between cells, increasing skin strength, cutting down on weakness.

Nail Biting - Causes And Consequences
By Janet Martin
Do you bite your nails often? Do you find it difficult to stop? Then welcome to the club. Nail biting is common among children although adults are not exempted from this nervous habit.
Famous nail biters include Britney Spears, Eva Mendez, Lisa Marie Presley, and Elijah Wood.
Nail biting or chronic onychophagia is the act of biting the cuticle, the soft tissue around the nail or the nail itself. It occurs in 28 to 33 percent of children ages 7-10 years old, 44 percent of adolescents, 19 to 29 percent of young adults, and five percent of older adults, according to Terry M. McClanahan in his study titled "Operant Learning Principles Applied to Nail Biting."
Another study says it is common in 45 - 60 percent of children aged eight to 11 and tends to peak between the ages of 10 and 18.
This irritating habit is more common in boys than girls, and can be seen during periods of nervousness, stress, hunger, boredom or lack of activities. In some cases, it can be a sign of a mental or emotional disorder.
Most of the time, it is harmless habit that children eventually outgrow. In both children and adults, however, nail biting usually occurs unconsciously when the person is doing something else like reading a book or watching TV.
"Nail biting is often considered to be a common reaction to stress. A child or even an adult uses nail biting as a coping mechanism to relieve pent-up emotions. Dr. Ronald Bronow, a dermatologist in private practice and assistant clinical professor of medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, says nail biting is a habitual condition, a common reaction to stress and boredom. Nail biters could also suffer from a poor self-image or could be punishing themselves for deeper-rooted problems or anxieties. Basically, nail biting is a rational substitution of one problem for another. In many instances nail biting is used as a tension reliever. Any kind of disharmony as a result of friends, family, work or school can trigger the habit," explained Onychophagia.com.
"It has been documented that some people bite their nails in their sleep, sometimes exclusively. This has been linked to stress while dreaming or stress from the dream or simply stress in general. It is considered the most widespread form of mild self mutilation," according to Wikipedia.
Apart from being unsanitary, nail biting has its own share of adverse effects. Nail biting can easily carry bacteria and other germs from the nails to the mouth. Broken skin can also be susceptible to viral and bacterial infections.
"Where a nail has been bitten too far in, bleeding might occur at the grooves or cuticles. More extremely the constant wetting of the finger can lead to yeast infection of the nail and oral herpes can actually begin to grow on the finger. Ridging, nail deformity and even nail loss can happen. Bacterial infections can lead to severe dental problems such as gingivitis," said http://www.Onychophagia.com
The first step in stopping this habit is to identify what's causing it and resolving whatever problems you have. To stop fungal infections arising from nail biting, use Somasin AFS. This powerful herbal formula strengthens the immune system and stops stubborn nail infections in just seven days. Visit http://www.somasin.com for more information.

The Most Effective Anti-Wrinkle Skin Care Tips You Will Ever Read!
By Joseph Giordano
Anti-wrinkle skin care is a hot topic. Even a cursory examination of this topic will reveal an enormous amount of information on this very common dermal condition. Treatments and therapeutic methods seem to abound, more so with this one issue than with any other dermal condition with the possible exception of acne. Everyone, it seems, is looking for an effective anti-wrinkle skin care solution.
With so much information on this topic available-and much of it conflicting-a good place to start is with the basics. Many people do not understand the mechanics behind wrinkling and only assume it happens just because we get older. Well, there is some truth to that but there is much more to the story.
One term that you will see often is photoaging. It is true that heat, wind, and chemicals can lead to wrinkling, but the one element that leads to more wrinkling than all the others is the sun. Photoaging is caused by exposure to the sun and the symptoms can include such things as yellowing, freckles, rough dry skin, blood vessel appearance on the surface of the skin, and dark spots. As mentioned above, photoaging is a major cause of premature wrinkling, especially on the face and hands.
Long exposure to the sun (without the use of a good quality sunscreen) will cause the underlying structures of the flesh to weaken and then to break down. The important structures that are affected are collagen and elastin. Also, as we age, the sweat glands become less active and this leads to the skin losing vital moisture.
The fact is, a whole series of external factors such as damage from the sun, effects of pollution, and extreme weather conditions work against your skin. In addition, a whole series of internal factors such as genetics, hormone changes, chronological aging, decreased effectiveness of the immune system, all work together to create aged, wrinkled skin. The very best anti-wrinkle skin care therapies will address all of these issues in some form or another. In many cases, simply treating one of the causal factors will not bring about the desired results.
On a personal level, there are many things that you can do to help reduce or even prevent wrinkling. The first, and one of the most important, is to protect your skin when out of doors. Exposure to direct sunlight is a major cause of skin problems, including wrinkling. When you are outside make sure that you wear a good quality sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 or higher. It is important to remember to reapply the sunscreen every two to three hours. If you are sweating or swimming, apply more often.
It may be said that protection from the sun's rays is so important that if it is ignored other treatment methods may not work at all. In other words, you can drink all the water that you can hold but if you are still being exposed to sunlight and have not used a sunscreen, the water you take in will not affect your wrinkles. It is truly that simple.
It is also important to understand that the harmful effects of the sun add up over time. They are cumulative which makes it vital that protection begin at an early age, which means that you should be protecting your children from the sun's rays whenever they are outside in the sun.
Using tobacco is another cause of skin aging. Smoking removes needed moisture from the body and the toxins within the smoke itself impedes the body's immune system in many ways. This bad habit will not only undermine our health but also will cause our flesh to wrinkle since it restricts blood circulation to the skin. By quitting smoking at an early age you can help prevent a number of different serious health problems from occurring and reduce a good percentage of skin aging from developing.
Water intake is crucial to healthy skin. On average you should consume at least eight glasses of water a day. This fluid is needed to help the body remove waste materials, and it is vital for keeping the skin cells hydrated. Once cells become dry, they tend to tighten up and you will lose elasticity as well as tone. Do not underestimate the importance of good hydration.
A healthy diet based upon consuming quality protein from fish, legumes, nuts, seeds, and grains is not only necessary to maintain our health but also helps preserve the integrity of our skin. Diets that are high in sugar and refined carbohydrates from eating white floured breads and pastas will elevate our blood sugar levels. These foods not only cause inflammation but also will negatively affect our skin. Many people today live a stressful life and will eat on the run. In most cases, they will eat high carbohydrate foods which are also high in saturated fat. Many scientists believe that these highly inflammatory foods will cause our skin to sag and wrinkle. In order to help prevent wrinkles, we should avoid those junk foods from our diet. It is also beneficial to supplement our diet with a good multivitamin with minerals in order to help prevent deficiencies and feed our skin from within. Certain nutritional supplements such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E are three important antioxidants which help prevent free radicals from undermining our skin. The Omega 3 oils found in salmon and flax seeds and the Omega 6 fats found in olive oil are beneficial since they help moisturize the skin and treat xerosis.
Using a good quality moisturizer is also a vital element to reducing and preventing dry skin and wrinkles. It is always best to use moisturizers that contain all natural or organic ingredients. Some commercially produced moisturizers contain harsh chemicals that can actually cause irritation problems in those with sensitive skin. Some important natural ingredients added to moisturizers to help treat wrinkles are green tea extract, rosa mosqueta, L-ascorbic acid, beta glucan and argireline.
Implementing these anti-wrinkle skin care tips into your daily life will help reduce the presence of wrinkles as well as help prevent new ones from appearing. It should be noted, however, that no treatment option will eliminate all wrinkles as we age.
Joseph Giordano has done extensive research on herbs, esite at sential oils, and other natural compounds used to treat different health and skin care conditions. As a teenager and young adult, he suffered from acne and dry skin due to severe sun exposure. Through the use of several natural skin care formulas and medicated creams prescribed by his doctors, he was able to successfully treat his acne and dry skin conditions. He is not a medical doctor, and cannot prescribe, but offers a free educational newsletter to those who subscribe though his website at http://www.natural-products-for-your-skin.com/anti-wrinkle-skin-care.html The site focuses on a variety of different skin conditions along with the natural skin care treatments used to treat those situations. Forget Dry Skin And Have A Queen's Face
By Anita R Choudhary
Our skin is the biggest organ and the most delicate also. It requires constant moisturizing, hydration and pores kept free from blockages, for you to have a radiant complexion. When we sweat, the built in toxins are released through our skin pores, thus keeping our skin clean and healthy.
When you are young, the skin has inherent natural oils that it secretes to keep the skin healthy and supple. However, as we age, the skin gets drier and loses its ability to produce oils, so you need extra application of natural organic creams and lotions for intense moisturizing of the skin.
When the skin loses moisture, it becomes very dry and cracks appear or skin peels and becomes irritated. Usually, the fungi and microbial infections sets in damaged, dry skin and later flares up. Dry skin not only does not look good but the accumulation of dead skin cells, need constant exfoliation. The best way to achieve normal, healthy skin is to have a regular skin care routine which will make you look attractive and have a flawless skin. As you age, the skin loses its moisture content very fast and signs o aging show up fast. It is beneficial to use good authentic organic skin care products, which will help you attain the proper PH balance in your skin.
Some home beauty tips are very effective when you have dry skin. Mash up a banana and add some honey and little milk to make a paste. You can also add a few drops of your favorite essential oil like sandal, rose or lavender to get the perfect fragrance. Apply this rejuvenating face mask and leave it on for at least 10 to 15 minutes. Wash it off with warm water and apply pure almond oil or avocado oil as moisturizer. Repeat this process once a day for a fortnight and see the difference!
The best way to clean your dry/damaged skin is to use a mild soap and use extra moisturizers like pure oils for maximum benefits. Avoid any alcohol based skin care product as it tends to dry out the skin. Alkaline soaps and skin care lotions should be used. Drinking plenty of water every day and eating a balanced diet certainly helps you have an acne free, well nourished beautiful skin. Protect your skin from the harsh rays of the sun and use a soft, gentle sunscreen lotion when ever you go out. Follow the tips and you will see your dull, luster less dry facial skin transform into a supple, soft and beautiful complexioned young face.

Quick Tips For Healthy Skin For Life
By Damian Power
1. Our skin loves minerals, a great and enjoyable way of delivering minerals directly to the skin is by taking baths with ordinary sea salts. This softens the skin, heals cuts/bruises and kills bacteria or surface skin infections. Buying salt can be expensive especially from health shops or super markets but if you buy in bulk say 10 kilos should cost no more than 10£ or 20$ and should last most of the year.
2. Skin needs sun light to produce chemicals which promote healing, vitamin D and healthy skin pigmentation. I hear far to much about the sun damaging the skin and causing skin problems such as cancer, this is true but only from over exposed without the right sun block. Many people do not know this but sun creams no Mather what factor high or low will only work for a max protection of one hour.
3. Food can have an effect on the health and complexion of the skin. Some foods will create problem with greasy skin, others create dry and cracked skin. Everyone's skin reacts different to food, finding the right diets can be hard but by simply cutting out acidy foods will make a huge difference. An example of acidy foods; tomatoes, citric fruits/juices oranges and lemon ect.. And eating more alkynes or green foods such melons, carrots, cabbage ect, will help greatly in reducing acid from our bodies. Also dairy produce such as milk, cheese can cause skin problems; because our bodies just are not designed to digest dairy.
4. Exercise is important for health in general, so keeping fit will help you health greatly. Giving your body more energy and fitness helps the skin through perspiration where the body removes the waste toxin through sweat.
5. Our bodies are made up mostly of water. drinking plenty of water each day helps flush out toxins which can build up and cause rashes and many other skin problems. If you suffer from eczema and rashes buying a detox is a good way of flushing the toxin which maybe causing the problem.

I personally use this system of skincare and loved it, as I have very little time on my hands. This is a way for me to get the most out of my body, and not feel guilty as I did before about not being in shape which can have a very negative affect on your personality. I personally felt ugly and to feel like that about yourself is not right. But now I am so positive and more out going in all aspects of life.

8 Essential Nail Care Tips for Healthy and Strong Nails
By Nicole Essler
Proper nail care is very important in today's world where a first impression means so much.
They say a person's hands say a lot about them and your nails can make a big difference on how neat and attractive your hands look. If your nails are not attractive and healthy it will be obvious when you shake hands with people or simply introduce yourself. These days taking proper care of your nails is important for both men and women due to the reasons mentioned above. For men, however there is a stigma attached to going to a nail salon or purchasing a nail kit, and even for women the cost of a professional manicure can be prohibitive.
With that in mind here are 8 tips for naturally keeping your nails healthy and attractive without spending a fortune every month on a professional manicure.
1. You will need to get yourself at least the basics of proper nail care like a good nail file, nail buffer and perhaps some cuticle oil which you can usually find in a nail kit. Remember these are very basic products which can be found in any drugstore and you don't need to spend a fortune on name brands with these products.
2. Use the nail file to file down your nails to a proper length. However be careful not to do this too often. You should really never file the nail unless it's about a quarter inch grown from the top of the pink part. Filing before that can weaken the nails and cause them to break easier.
3. As with proper skin and overall health in general, proper water intake is important for naturally healthy, attractive nails. Aim for at least eight glasses of water per day.
4. When applying nail polish aim for doing two or three thinner coats instead of one thick one. This will give you a stronger coat of polish by drying faster and lasting for a longer period of time.
5. Be careful with the products you put on your hands such as soap and lotions. Avoid products with alcohol or other drying agents because that tends to dry and weaken nails, making them brittle and prone to cracking.
6. It is important to keep your hands and cuticles moisturized and hydrated. Try using cuticle oil to soften cuticles and provide hydration which will make them look smoother and feel more comfortable.
7. If you bite your nails you need to get rid of this habit as soon as possible, no matter what it takes. Not only is this a really nasty habit to observe it will destroy the appearance and health of your nails and hurt any other efforts at proper nail care you may be doing.
8. When using a nail file or nail buffer on your nails make sure not to use the back and forth motion because that generates excessive heat on your nail which will weaken it. Instead go from the side to the middle along the ridge line of the nails.
Follow these tips consistently and you will be on your way to naturally healthy, strong and beautiful nails which will be an important part of creating a positive first impression!

Shea Butter Before and After a Workout
By Dr. Robyn Tisdale Scott
Do you work out often? If so, you probably know the benefits of a great workout. It helps restore energy, maintain a healthy weight, and even improves one's mood. You probably also know the effect a great workout can have on the muscles. If you workout, chances are you've had more than your fair share of muscle aches. What is there to do? You have to workout to stay healthy, but the muscle aches are enough to make you want to throw in that sweaty towel!
Well, before you get rid of your workout equipment and gear and trade it in for a universal remote, there are some things you can do to get rid of those muscle aches!
I probably don't have to tell you the benefits of stretching before each workout. This is really important. It limbers you up and prepares your muscles for the stress of a workout. When you fail to do this, you risk some serious muscle aches that can drive you crazy. Make sure you stretch each time before you begin a workout. Also, stretching after a workout can really help prevent muscle aches as well. It is a great muscle ache remedy. In it's natural state, unrefined, it is a sort of healing cream that will help a whole load of problems and muscle aches are one of them. Rubbing this on before you begin a workout can really help prevent muscle aches. Not to mention the good skin benefits that will come with it. After you've showered up, you can rub more Shea Butter on to combat the pains of tired and sore muscles. A great idea is to melt the Shea Butter until it's comfortably warm, and rub this into your skin, massaging your muscles. Not only does the rich, warm Shea Butter feel sinfully good, but you can practically kiss those muscle aches goodbye.
One more great thing you can do to get rid of your muscle aches with it is to melt some and put it into a hot bath. This has the same effect as when you rub it on your skin, but with the added benefit of a relaxing hot bath. Soak in this for as long as you want, and then remember to rub more Shea Butter on your skin when you get out.
Working out is one of the greatest things you can do for your body and to stay healthy. It is discouraging when you workout and end up with sore muscles and pain. The tips and ideas above will really help you alleviate that soreness, so that you will feel more motivated to continue working out. You don't have to live with that muscle pain that springs up every time you exercise and work out. Hey, in some cases, it is possible to have your cake and eat it too!
Stay healthy and stay happy!

How to Use Shea Butter for Problem Skin Areas
By Dr. Robyn Tisdale Scott
You may notice that even if your skin is moisturized and healthy looking, you will have 'problem areas.' Usually, your knees, elbows, ankles and feet feel the effects of dry skin the most. This can be pretty embarrassing, especially if you're the flip flop kind of person. There are some really important things you can do to take care of these areas so they will be as soft and hydrated as the rest of your skin.
It is important to moisturize these areas, and you will most likely need to do it more than you moisturize the rest of your skin. Daily is a good idea, and as needed is even better. Using a rich and thick moisturizer on these areas will keep them moisturized far longer than the light moisturizer some people use for the rest of their skin.
Shea Butter is a great option for this. It has a rich texture which is full of excellent vitamins and nutrients that heal dry skin, irritated skin, and rough skin. One great thing about using Shea Butter is the healing properties that it contains which fight dry skin. It is a rich cream which absorbs into the skin of problem areas and heals it. It contains benefits which help with irritation as well. Other things you can do to stop dry skin, especially in problem areas might be simpler than you think. One of them is to make sure your bath water isn't too hot. Yes, it feels amazing to soak into a hot steamy bath, but the temperature really matters when it comes to your skin. If your bath water is too hot, it can really take a toll on your skin, drying it out even worse.
In the winter, our elbows, feet, ankles and knees can really drive us crazy. One great thing you can do for your feet is smooth on a generous amount of cream like Shea Butter and place some thick socks on while you sleep. This gives it a chance to really absorb into the dry and cracked skin of your feet and moisturize. When we sleep is when our body recuperates anyway, so giving it an extra boost is a great idea.
Covering up this skin in the winter is also advisable. Cold air and wind can dry out your skin just as much as a hot bath, and you also have the chance of getting wind 'burn' on these areas. This is more than just irritating; it hurts. Make sure that you cover up and apply a moisturizing cream to keep problem areas hydrated. You may also want to check your soap to see if there are ingredients in it which dry your skin. Simply changing to a natural or milder soap can help with problems like this. Utilize the tips and ideas above for smooth, hydrated, and soft skin all over!

Using Shea Butter While on Vacation
By Dr. Robyn Tisdale Scott
Who doesn't love going on vacation? You are able to get away from the stresses of work, home, and the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It's nice to lie on the beach, relaxed, and soaking up the warmth of the sun. The only thing you're worried about is how the vacation is passing too fast! When you're on vacation, there are different things you want to do in order to make sure your skin stays healthy and luminous. Soaking in the sun, swimming at the beach or pool, and a lot of different other factors can really damage your skin and make it dull looking.
One thing you can do to ensure that your skin is protected while you're on vacation is to limit your time in the sun. We all know about the harmful effects of UV rays and skin cancer, but the sun has a drying effect on your skin as well. This can age you faster, and make you look older than you really are. Use a big beach umbrella at the very least to keep your skin from baking in the sun and drying out. If you're at the ocean, you should know that salt water dries out your skin as well, so limit your time in the water. Rather than spending all of your time on the beach, take some time out to do other things, like go antiquing or visit the local shops and art spots.
You can also opt to apply a rich skin protectant like Shea Butter.
Applying a cream or lotion before and after your time in the sun keeps your skin healthy and moisturized. Make sure that it's a non-comedogenic cream so that your pores will not become clogged. Shea Butter is a great option for this, as it contains natural sunscreen, and is great for keeping your skin healthy and moisturized. It also doesn't come off like regular creams and lotions because it's a richer texture and forms a barrier on your skin without feeling greasy. Along with anti-aging and anti-inflammatory benefits, it is amazing for those sunburns you might get while you're on vacation.
Drinking plenty of water while you're in the sun and waltzing around different areas during vacation is a must. Water helps keep you hydrated, and that includes your skin. Water gives you the hydration that your body needs to function properly, and it keeps your complexion clean and even. Making sure that you are hydrated, that you're protecting your skin from the sun with moisturizers such as Shea Butter, and limiting the amount of time you spend in the water are some great precautions to take. This way, you can really enjoy your vacation, but you will know that your body and skin are taken care of as well!

Shea Butter - All It's Cracked Up To Be?
By Cheryl Beasley
It seems so. Shea butter has been used in Africa for centuries with outstanding results for skin benefits. In fact, it is believed that Cleopatra and the Queen of Sheba used Shea butter as part of their beauty routines. Shea butter comes from the nut of the fruit from the karite tree found growing in West Africa.
They grow only in the wild, and can take up to 50 years to mature and they can live up to 300 years. It is proven to moisturise, soothe, heal and even protect the skin from damage. It contains a large quantity of unsaponifiable fats, which are excellent for the skins layers; in fact Shea butter has about 11% unsaponifiable fat in comparison to avocado oil which has about 5%. Also, Shea Butter easily penetrates the skin allowing the skin to breathe and not clogging pores, and its content of vitamins such as A, E, and F to name a few along with other active elements makes it a very interesting and beneficial substance.
Vitamins A and E help to soothe and hydrate the skin and Vitamin F contains the essential fatty acids, linoleic, linolenic and arachidonic acids, these three essential fatty acids help protect and revitalize damaged skin. Vitamin F consists of Shea butter has a protecting role against UV rays, with a natural SPF-6 and can be incorporated into creams to add this specific benefit. It has mild anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties as well as good moisture retaining properties and protects the skin from drying out in the sun.
But it doesn't end there. Shea butter can also promote the skin to rejuvenate itself by increasing the circulation and therefore accelerating healing and cell renewal. And again the high level of unsaponifiable fat is one of the reasons it is so good in treating the conditions listed below.
Dry skin
Spots, Blemishes
Eczema, Dermatitis
Shaving rash
Stretch marks
Itchy skin
Sunburn
Small cuts
Damaged skin
Rough skin
Insect bites
Wrinkles, fine lines
Chapped skin
Dry or damaged hair
Nappy rash
Skin allergies
ScarsSkin discolouration
Shea butter can even be used on very sensitive skin areas such as around the eyes and it is well tolerated by the skin not normally triggering allergic reactions, this makes it ideal for just about everyone.
Here are some more benefits of Shea butter:
Can even the skin tone
Absorbs without leaving a greasy residue
Doesn't clog pores
Revitalizes, softens and maintains the skins natural moisture balance
Naturally rich in vitamins A, E & F
Penetrates deeply into the deeper layers of the skin helping restore elasticity
Helps soothe and repair skin irritations
Great for strengthening nails and cuticles
Good for cracked/split elbows, heels and feet
Shea butter is fast becoming one of the best selling moisturisers and highly recommended skin care products throughout the skin care world. Not only because of its softening, moisturising and protective benefits but also because Shea butter is a sort after ingredient for soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lip balms, sun and skin care products, body and hand creams and anti-wrinkle creams.
It is also benefiting Africans who are producing the Shea butter for commercial export and hopefully will help them find the way out of poverty they so desire.
As the evidence above suggests Shea butter is one of nature's best moisturisers and has a large number of proven healing properties and it is definitely all it's cracked up to be!

Amazing Products And Treatments For Your Skin
By Sharon A Bell
During the time of our ancestors, maintaining a youthful and glowing skin needs a lot of hard work and commitment. There are so many activities you need to avoid, foods that you need to eat and beauty regimen that you need to follow to ensure that your skin is free of dark spots, wrinkles, and other blemishes.
Nowadays, however, it is relatively easier for you to take care of your skin. Due to medical and technological advancements in the fields of cosmetology and dermatology, men and women can now erase wrinkles and other skin imperfections through injections, creams, and various beauty tools.
Here are some of the products and treatments that will help you to attain a truly spectacular and blemish-free skin:
Sunscreen or sun block
The major cause of skin blemishes, discolorations and other skin problems is prolonged or direct sun exposure. Since the ozone layer, which is responsible for helping screen or prevent harsh rays from the sun to enter the earth, is already thinning, frequent and unprotected sun exposure will make your skin dry and scorched.
If you don't want your skin to have dark spots or to look like a raisin, you better find a high-quality sunscreen or sun block. You should ensure that the SPF (sun protection factor) of the product you will be using is not less than 30. Be sure to find a product that is specially designed to protect the face and another one for your arms and body.
Microdermabrasion
Another way to help make your skin clearer and fairer is through microdermabrasion. This treatment, which can only be done in a salon or clinic, is characterized by sand blasting your face and body with a tool that contains very small diamond-like particles. This works by slowly sloughing off dead skin cells.
However, in order to have a younger-looking and softer skin, you need to avail yourself of a microdermabrasion program, which usually entails 6 to 12 visits to the clinic or salon. Although the treatment is quite expensive, you are sure to have a brighter and more even complexion. If you have a severe case of sunburn or skin discoloration, this might not work for you.
Hydroquinone Treatments
If you want to stop the production of melanin, which is responsible for the dark spots on your skin, you might want to undergo special hydroquinone treatments, which can only be done in dermatological clinics. It is important to note that you should only use hydroquinone products under the supervision of competent dermatologists because this drug has many side effects. Just surf the Internet and you will see that there are a lot of people who have suffered from burns and other problems from using cheap over-the-counter products with hydroquinone as their active ingredient.
Laser and other light treatments
Skin pigmentation or discoloration can also be improved through laser or intense pulsed light treatments (IPT). The laser or IPT works by activating the skin's healing process in areas where pigmentation and discoloration are visible.
Over-the-counter products
Many products that are sold on the Internet and even in department stores or beauty shops are effective in helping protect your skin from photo damage and other skin problems. However, there are also some creams and ointments sold over the counter that cause more damage and problems. Thus, you need to be careful in choosing what is best for your skin type.
To be on the safe side, be sure to look for all-natural and hypoallergenic products. You should also stay away from very cheap products because they either lack the necessary ingredients to help you achieve a healthier looking skin or they contain elements that are not good for your skin.
One product that can help even out your skin tone and erase dark spots and blemishes is Lumnaderm. If you want to find out more about Lumnaderm, you can visit www.Lumnaderm.com.

Skin Protection
By Juliet Cohen
Skin is very important as it covers and protects everything inside your body. Solar radiation, and ultraviolet (UV) light in particular, is increasing worldwide with the thinning of the protective ozone layer. UV radiation is the most important environmental factor in the development of skin cancer. This makes skin cancer a largely preventable disease when sun protective practices and behaviors are consistently applied and utilized. In United States more than 1 million cancers patents. Ultraviolet (UV) rays reflect off water, sand, and snow. UV rays also reach below water's surface. Sunburns in children increased risk of melanoma. The sun's rays are generally strongest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you outdoors, be sure their skin is protected.
Some easy steps for made your skin softer. Stick to warm (not hot) showers, and apply lotion while skin is still damp from the shower or bath. Green tea really cleans skin and soften.
Sensitive skin is susceptible to irritations, redness, itching or rashes. Use a moisturizer that doesn't contain potential allergens, such as fragrances or dyes, and is specifically designed for sensitive skin. Proper exfoliation also speeds up cell-turnover rate, meaning you'll bring a radiant and glowing complexion to the surface more quickly. Regular use of a body scrub, which sloughs dead cells from its surface, can help rub out the problem within a couple of months. Rough, bumpy skin on the backs of your upper arms, butt, and thighs is the hallmark of this very common--and completely harmless--condition.
Apply sunscreen if you plan to stay outside during a large portion of the day when there are no clouds. Sunscreens help to prevent other problems related to sun exposure including aging and precancerous growths. Apply sunscreen about 30 minutes before going outside to allow it time to bond with it. Sunglasses that block UV rays protect eyes and the surrounding tender skin.
Choose hats that shade your child's face, neck, and ears. Choose shirts and slacks made of tightly woven fabrics that you can't see through when held up to light. Protecting skin from the sun during childhood and adolescence is important in reducing cancer risk later in life. Teach your children the shadow rule. Sun avoidance and other sun-protective measures are probably effective in reducing skin cancer.
Skin Protection Tips
1. Use waterproof sunscreen if she's at the pool or beach.
2. Choose light colors, which don't absorb heat as much as dark colors.
3. Avoid mirrored sunglasses since they intensify the sun's rays.
4. Lips can never tan, but they easily burn.
5. Sunglasses that block UV rays protect eyes and the surrounding tender skin.

Skin Care Scrubs
By Juliet Cohen
Skin care products wouldn't be complete without face masks and scrubs. Masks primarily function to sooth and replenish while scrubs are best as exfoliants. Facials can play a vital role in helping keep skin healthy and glowing. Body scrubs are a spa experience you can create at home. Making your own body scrub is very easy to do. You should only make enough for one use or at most four uses. Clay face mask draws up the natural skin care component in clay to cleanse and purify the skin. It is actually a drying mask that draws out impurities from under the surface of the skin. The goal of this type of mask is to tighten, revitalize and activate skin circulation, giving the skin a youthful and vibrant glow. You can make your own body scrub from the ingredients you probably already have on hand.
Exfoliate ingredients include sea salt, epsom salt, white sugar, brown sugar, cornmeal and oatmeal. The wet ingredient is either an oil or vegetable butter or liquid soap. A cream face mask is a moisturizing mask that revitalizes and hydrates the skin. It may contain organic skin care exfoliation agents to help cleanse skin pores, remove waste and toxins and fight free radicals leaving the skin more velvety and luminous. Organic facial masks may contain generous amounts of botanical freshener like rose floral water and calming sea algae to double act as toner. Scrubs work by removing deeply ingrained dirt and grime to leave skin soft and clear. The good ones are made up with the grinded core of the peach fruit or almonds. The natural granules remove dead skin cell and blackheads.
Scrubs are a great, inexpensive and effective way of thoroughly cleansing your entire body while providing it with an overall skin care treatment. Some body scrubs use small beads, which work to gently remove dead skin without causing harm or irritation. If your skin is oily this is the ideal homemade scrub. Take 4 tablespoons of chickpea powder. Add to this, half tablespoons of turmeric power, a few drops of rose water and milk to make a thick paste. Rub it all over the body. Apply baking soda on wet face using circular motions. Make a mixture of 1 tsp walnut powder,1/2 tsp honey, 1 tsp lemon juice and scrub your face with it. Other scrubs mash a piece of papaya, then add 1/2 tsp brown sugar and rub your face with it. Leave it on for 20 minutes and rinse well.

Cold Weather Skin Care in the Winter
By Danielle Sims
The cold winter months are upon us and if we are not prepared, the skin will suffer. When taking care of the skin in the winter, focus should definitely be on protection, moisturize, and repair.
Protecting our skin is very important especially in the winter months, since the cold air is harsh and drying. Equal care should be taken to guard the skin from the suns harmful rays during these challenging months.
A good sunscreen can be found at your local drugstore that should be applied to all exposed areas. Paying special close attention to the facial skin. A SPF of 30 or higher is a good idea. The best anti-aging treatment for your skin is a good sunscreen. Using it in the winter is equally important since the sun is still strong. We also have to take into account that if there is snow on the ground, it acts as a huge reflector, reflecting even more heat and sun onto us.
Moisturizing the skin in the winter is essential. Moisture can be lost quickly in the winter. The skin becomes dry and may even start to crack and cause lines to form prematurely. Using a good moisturizer especially on the face is crucial. A optimum moisturizer should be non-greasy and should be worn under the sunscreen. It's a good idea to carry a moisturizer with you when out to apply often.
The skin is constantly repairing itself. We can help it along by providing protection and nourishment. A good diet consisting of fruits and vegetables can make the difference in your skin and how it appears. Also supplementing with a multivitamin rich in vitamins and mineral nutrients will ensure that your skin gets what it needs to repair itself.
Wearing a repairing moisturizer at night can continue the repair process while you sleep which is when your body is doing the most healing and repairing.
Taking care of our skin in the winter will help preserve the appearance of aging. when you protect, moisturize, and repair the skin, you can be assured that your skin as at it's best.
Danielle Sims explored her library of alternative health, herbal books, and aromatherapy books and created a blueprint for making her own body wrap formulas at home. Now she offers this information in an e-book entitled Wrap Yourself Slim: Body Wrap Exposed. Monthly newsletter is also available at her web site. For more information go to Body Wraps Exposed.

Overcome Problem Nails with Vitamins and Herbs
By Dr Jenny Tylee
Like hair the condition of your nails is a good indication of your general health. Your nails should be a pink color - due to the blood vessel below the nail. You can tell you a lot from looking at fingernail about whether you have a heart, thyroid, digestive or even fungal disorder.
What you can tell from your nails problems
Pale, brittle nails, spoon-shaped or with ridges down the length may be due to nutritional deficiencies, such as calcium, zinc and iron and with too much selenium.
Slow nail growth can result from general malnourishment.
Brittle nails from a deficiency of biotin.

Harmful Skin Care Ingredients to Avoid
By Shanda Trias
The skin is our largest organ, with a surface area of about two square meters. Our skin is not an impenetrable barrier, and many drugs are administered via the skin. Take nicotine and hormone replacement patches, for example. Sebastian Parsons, CEO of Dr. Hauschka Natural Skin Care, states that the average woman absorbs 14 kg (30 lb) of moisturizing ingredients into the bloodstream over 60 years!
We should definitely be discerning in what we apply onto our bodies. Here's a list of ingredients to avoid.
DEA, MEA, TEA
These are acronyms for diethanolamine (DEA), monoethanolamine (MEA), and triethanolmine (TEA). Quite a mouthful, I know! They are common foaming agents used in shampoos, soaps and body washes. They cause allergic reactions and affect hormone function.
Artificial Colours
Some artificial colours are carcinogenic, like D&C Orange 5, D&C Orange 17, D&C Red 9, D&C Red 19, FD&C Blue 1, FD&C Red 40, FD&C Yellow 5 and FD&C Yellow 6. They can also cause dermatitis and irritation upon skin contact. It's best to scrutinize the ingredients of rainbow-coloured products, or avoid them altogether.
Formaldehyde
These are preservatives known to cause dermatitis and other skin reactions, asthma and migraines. Examples of formaldehyde-derived preservatives are imidazolidinyl urea and DMDM hydantoin.
Parabens
These are another type of preservative. Examples are butyl-, ethyl- and propylparaben. They may cause allergic reactions to some. Research suggests a connection between parabens, and breast cancer and male reproductive problems.
Petrochemicals
Many skin care products, even the big-name ones, are derived from petrochemicals. Examples of petrochemicals are paraffin, mineral oil and isopropyl alcohol. Ingredients with prefixes or suffixes like propyl-, methyl-, eth-, -ene are usually petroleum-based. These compounds can cause skin irritations, allergies and reduce the skin's ability to breathe. From an environmental standpoint, we should also reduce our reliance on limited fossil-fuel resources, and instead use naturally-derived alternatives.
Fragrance
Synthetic fragrances can cause skin irritation, hyperpigmentation, dizziness or nausea. Note that products labeled "fragrance free" may have chemicals added to mask the scent. Instead look for products with essential oils as the scent source, or those labeled "natural fragrance".
Propylene Glycol
This is a common moisture-carrying agent in skin care products. Normally derived from petroleum, though it can also be produced from seaweed or vegetable glycerine. It can cause rashes and other skin damage, kidney and liver problems.
SLS
Also known as sodium lauryl sulphate. Its degreasing properties are used to remove dirt from skin and hair. It irritates the skin, and can form carcinogenic nitrogen compounds when combined with other ingredients.
