Best Nightcreams - 6 Good & 6 Bad Ingredients
By Margaret Bell

A nightcream can be very beneficial. But the best nightcreams are sometimes hard to identify. What ingredients should you look for? Which ones should you avoid? Let me give you a little help. You should learn what ingredients are good and which ones are bad. Keep this article handy until you know what to look for. Read the labels and know what they mean. It's your skin's health.

It's always best to look for skincare products that are free of allergens like preservatives and fragrances. But, it is particularly important when it comes to a nightcream. Why? There are several reasons, really, but primarily it's this. Restful sleep is very important to your appearance.

If the compounds in a nightcream cause irritation, your sleep will be disturbed. During sleep, your body goes about repairing damage that has been done during the day. You want to look for ingredients that support this "rejuvenation" process, not interfere with it.

The best nightcreams contain no artificial preservatives or fragrances. The worst contain as many as five different preservatives, including a number of parabens. But, it's not just preservatives and fragrances that should be avoided.

6 Bad Ingredients in Night Creams

1. BHA-a possible human carcinogen

2. Petrolatum, paraffin, liquid paraffin, mineral oil-byproducts ofgasoline production, may be contaminated with carcinogenic substances interferes with skin rejuvenation

3. Triethanolamine-toxic to the immune system, the respiratory system and the skin

4. BHT-toxic to the immune system, the skin, the endocrine system and the nervous system

5. Eugenol-toxic to the immune system, possible carcinogen

6. Triclosan-known skin irritant, probable carcinogen, restricted in Canada and Japan

You might think that these toxic ingredients are uncommon, but the truth is that some night creams contain three or four of them. The best nightcreams don't contain any of them. Actually they don't contain anything that wouldn't be safe enough to eat.

After all, you're sleeping with it on your face. How likely is it that some will get in your eyes or on your lips and in your mouth. Many of these chemicals will penetrate through the pores and enter the bloodstream.

6 Good Night Cream Ingredients

1. Shea butter-a natural moisturizer that softens and soothes, fades scars, blemishes and age spots, helps to smooth out wrinkles and stretch marks

2. Avocado oil-similar in composition to the skin's own oils, stimulates collagen production, relieves dryness and itching

3. Manuka honey-a very active variety that is rich in antioxidants, stimulates immune system function, promotes healing, prevents infection

4. Coenzyme Q10-antioxidant, reduces wrinkles, increases collagen and elastin production

5. Natural vitamin E-antioxidant, effectively preserves the quality of the oil, so that no additional preservatives are needed

6. Babassu Palm Wax-helps lock in moisture, prevents dirt from clogging pores, effective moisturizer

It may be hard to find a nightcream that contains all of these ingredients, but it's not impossible. If you really want the best nightcreams, it is well worth your time and effort to look for them.
My research did find the one skin care product line that has only good, safe ingredients - that gives excellent results.

Now that you know what to look for in nightcream and what to avoid, find the right product and get a good night's sleep. See resource box. You'll be glad when you are using the best night cream.
