Chlorine is in almost all of our water systems yet not only has it been proven to be a health hazard when we inhale the fumes it is also terrible for your skin, causing it to become dry and aged. Chlorine is not used because it is the safest chemical to disinfect our water supply; it is used because it is the cheapest. But did you know that adding a shower filter can keep your skin looking younger and feeling softer?
Well, if you didn't know you do know, so let's explore this just a little more in-depth. There are a variety of shower filters on the back but the concept is relatively the same. The object behind these special filters is to eliminate the chlorine from the water but how that is achieved can vary depending on the filter.
There are different filtration medias but their basic task is to remove the chlorine and purify the water. They can reduce soap scum, remove unpleasant water odors, and balance the waters PH. This can improve how the soap sudsier, and cleaning better. A filter will remove not just the chlorine but also other chemicals that can be in the water, which can be both absorbed by your skin and inhaled.
Chlorine bonds to your skin and hair, which then destroys the natural bacterial balance. The result is dry skin that's itchy and flaky and ages prematurely. The skin also absorbs chlorine and other chemicals, which ages the skin dramatically.
There are two main types of filters, granular activated carbon and KDF. These filters will remove as much as 95% of all chlorine. When the chlorine is removed from the water it's much less likely to damage your skin. Of course water can be quite drying and aging to the skin too, so some filter systems incorporate methods to soften the water, and with softer water comes softer skin, and with softer skin comes younger looking skin.
The key is to research the various filters that are on the market and to learn about what type of filtration they use, what they eliminate, and what they will do for your skin. That way you'll be able to make a knowledgeable decision about what type of shower filter is best for you and where you live.
Chlorine is toxic and the damage it does to your skin and to your overall health from inhalation is no laughing matter. And you certainly don't want to age any sooner than you must. That means there is more than one reason to consider the installation of a shower filter.
When you combine a quality shower filter with proper moisturizing and skin care you can take years off your skin. Your skin will look younger but it will also feel healthier thanks to the elimination of the chemical residue.
So there you have it. You now know that a shower filter can help your skin to feel softer and look younger. You have now another way of having beautiful looking skin, and have your skin become even healthier, all at the same time.
